Lumawig is seeking a highly experienced Senior Full-Stack Developer to join our team on a project-based, independent contractor or freelance basis. This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer who enjoys working autonomously and delivering high-impact software solutions without the constraints of a traditional full-time employment setup. You will collaborate closely with Lumawig’s internal teams and clients to build innovative, scalable, and business-critical applications across a wide range of industries. Key Responsibilities Development & Implementation Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle. Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance applications using VueJS or ReactJS and Django. Integrate RESTful or GraphQL services to extend and enhance application functionality. Quality Assurance & Optimization Debug, test, and optimize code to improve application performance, security, and reliability. Ensure all development follows industry best practices and coding standards. Conduct in-depth code reviews to maintain a high level of quality across projects. Leadership & Collaboration Lead technical planning, system architecture, and implementation strategies for assigned projects. Define the technical direction of projects and break requirements into actionable tasks aligned with client needs. Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and other internal project meetings. Select appropriate tools and technologies and ensure their effective use within the project. Act as the primary escalation point for technical and delivery challenges. Mentor junior developers, providing guidance, feedback, and technical leadership. Support performance management by helping team members set and achieve development goals. Project Partner Engagement Work closely with project managers to clarify scope, timelines, and technical requirements. Engage directly with clients to ensure solutions align with their business objectives. Drive project success through strong ownership, leadership, and agile delivery practices. Required Qualifications At least 5 years of experience in full-stack development, with a strong portfolio using VueJS or ReactJS and Django. Proven experience building and integrating RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs. Strong background in database design and management, including schema design that supports business processes. Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills. Solid understanding of platform differences (mobile vs. desktop) and how to optimize applications accordingly. Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or Codex for coding, debugging, code review, and development workflows, with a good understanding of prompt engineering and how to effectively use AI to improve development efficiency and code quality. Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, tools, and programming languages. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clients. Comfortable working independently as a contractor or freelancer while maintaining accountability and delivery standards. Nice to Have Architect-level experience or a strong background in software architecture, with the ability to define scalable system designs and make high-level technical decisions. Experience with PostgreSQL, WebSockets, Docker, and Python. Proficiency in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and microservice architectures. Experience scaling applications and managing complex, distributed software environments. Knowledge of AI technologies and hands-on experience working with large language models (LLMs).
