Build the AI layer of a fast-moving accommodation business We manage a portfolio of over 100 short-term rental rooms across Queensland, Australia. Bookings, cleaning schedules, upsells, payouts: it all moves fast, and most of it still moves through people. We're changing that. We're an AI-driven business by intent, not by slogan, and we're building the capability in-house rather than renting it from consultants. That's why this role exists. You'll be the internal owner of our AI and automation capability — designing, building and running AI agents that sit inside live operational workflows and actually do the work. Why this role exists We're rolling out several core systems at once. Without a dedicated internal owner, automation ends up fragmented, undocumented, and dependent on whoever built it last. This is a long-term, execution-focused engagement — not a short implementation project. You'll: Build and own our internal AI and automation capability Integrate AI into real operational workflows, not pilots Reduce our reliance on third-party consultants Make our systems work together intelligently instead of in isolation What you'll be doing This is a hands-on engineering role centred on AI agent development and intelligent automation. Design, build and refine AI agents used in live operational workflows Develop structured prompts and multi-agent logic Debug AI behaviour and improve reliability Build integrations between systems using APIs Implement AI-driven workflows triggered by real business events Combine AI decision-making with deterministic automation logic Document system behaviour and logic so it survives you First six months — known target projects BookingAgent — pulls bookings from Mews and pushes data to Zoho Creator for invoicing UpsellAgent — extracts upsell line items and maps them into invoice structures PaymentAgent — pulls payouts and posts transactions to Zoho Creator for reconciliation CleaningAgent — extracts scheduled cleaning tasks and generates purchase orders in Zoho (once the scheduling platform is live) These need REST API integrations, JSON validation and transformation, event-driven triggers, AI-assisted data interpretation, and deterministic output handling. Sequencing will be confirmed with systems leadership. What this role is — and isn't It is: engineering-focused, API-driven, integration-heavy, AI application work, and a long-term internal capability build. It isn't: an ERP architect role, a NetSuite implementation, low-code-only automation, or a short consulting gig. Must-have (non-negotiable) Python — strong working proficiency JavaScript or TypeScript REST API integration, both designing and consuming Async programming JSON schema validation and transformation Git — branching and PR workflow AI API usage (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI or similar) You need hands-on experience building API-driven systems. Exposure isn't enough. Extremely useful FastAPI or Node-based backend development · workflow automation tools (n8n, Make, Zapier) · Docker · background job workers · vector databases for RAG or embeddings · serverless environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) Nice to have Agent frameworks (AutoGen, CrewAI) · ML theory or model training · advanced DevOps · LLM fine-tuning · ERP or CRM familiarity Engineering fundamentals we expect Strong debugging. Error handling and retry strategies. Secure API handling — OAuth2, API keys, rate limiting. Deterministic output validation for AI. Logging and observability. How we work Fully remote, independent contractor engagement, Philippines-based. We use time-tracking tools (Hubstaff) to support transparency and sustainable workload planning — you should be comfortable working that way. How success is measured AI agents deployed and actively used in production workflows Reduced manual reconciliation and operational handling Reliable, deterministic AI outputs Fewer external consultant dependencies Automation logic that keeps improving Please don't apply if Your AI knowledge is theoretical, or bootcamp-only, with no real implementation behind it You need fixed, static requirements You'd rather avoid APIs You're not comfortable owning production-level code Time-tracking in a remote setup isn't for you A note on scope This role is being built deliberately. Early interviews focus on learning ability, systems thinking, attitude and collaboration rather than narrow tool expertise. Scope will keep sharpening as the role embeds. Pay: Php80,000.00 - Php100,000.00 per month Benefits Company events Flexible schedule Flextime Opportunities for promotion Work from home Work Location: Remote
