Are you an experienced Bookkeeper with Australian accounting experience looking for an opportunity to expand your skills and work with multiple clients? We’re looking for an AU Intermediate Bookkeeper / BAS Support Officer to join an Australian bookkeeping practice supporting small to medium-sized businesses across various industries. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, organized, and confident managing multiple client files while knowing when an issue requires escalation or review by a registered BAS Agent. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across multiple client files Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Perform bank, credit card, loan, and clearing account reconciliations Investigate discrepancies, unreconciled transactions, and unusual items Prepare BAS workpapers and GST reconciliations for BAS Agent review Process Australian payroll, including PAYG withholding, STP/STP Phase 2, superannuation, leave entitlements, and termination payments Perform payroll reconciliations and maintain accurate employee records Assist with month-end and year-end bookkeeping and reporting Assist with accounts receivable follow-ups and debtor/creditor maintenance Communicate professionally with clients, accountants, auditors, and stakeholders Maintain bookkeeping records in accordance with relevant ATO requirements Manage multiple client files, priorities, and deadlines Assist with client onboarding, file setup, and accounting system maintenance Prepare ad hoc financial reports and complete other bookkeeping tasks as required WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience Previous experience supporting Australian businesses is strongly preferred Experience working across multiple client files within an Australian bookkeeping practice is highly regarded Practical knowledge of Australian bookkeeping, GST, PAYG withholding, payroll, superannuation, and BAS Experience preparing BAS workpapers and GST reconciliations Strong Australian payroll experience, including STP/STP Phase 2 Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Professional written and verbal English communication Good judgment and ability to identify when matters require escalation High level of confidentiality and professionalism SYSTEMS & SOFTWARE Xero experience is essential.
