Senior Data Engineer (Python \| AWS \| Terraform)Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer for a full-time Independent Contractor. You will play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining a scalable, cloud-native data platform built entirely on AWS to power business-critical analytics and reporting. Tech Stack Requirements Core Engineering: Python, Advanced SQL (Window Functions, Complex Joins), ETL/ELT Pipeline Development, Data Lake Architecture. AWS Data Services: AWS Glue, AWS Lake Formation, Amazon Athena, Amazon S3\. Serverless \& Integration: AWS Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, EventBridge, EC2\. DevOps \& Cloud: Terraform, Production Data Processing Pipelines, AWS Data Ecosystem. Nice-to-Have: AWS CDK, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), AWS VPC/VPN configuration, Performance Monitoring \& Optimization, Data Governance Frameworks. Key Responsibilities Data Pipeline \& Lake Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain resilient enterprise-scale ETL pipelines and data lakes using AWS Lake Formation and S3\. Optimize storage and catalogs for analytical workloads through Amazon Athena. Cloud \& Serverless Architecture: Build serverless, event-driven data processing solutions using Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, and SQS. Manage all infrastructure through IaC using Terraform. Collaboration \& Delivery: Work directly with clients and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical blueprints. Participate in architecture discussions, sprint planning, and design reviews. Operational Excellence: Monitor production data processing pipelines, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure strict data quality, governance, and security metrics are maintained. Qualifications \& Terms Experience Profile: 5–8 years of professional Data Engineering experience with a strong background in AWS cloud platforms, SQL optimization, and enterprise ETL pipelines. Communication \& Fit: Excellent written and verbal English skills. Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work independently within remote Agile teams. Arrangement: Fully remote Independent Contractor status. Full-time commitment requiring daily operational overlap with US business hours for client alignment. Immediate start available.
