About the Client Our client is a vehicle subscription and fleet management provider, giving customers flexible access to vehicles without the commitments of traditional ownership or leasing. About The Role Working closely with a stakeholder-facing BI function, the Business Intelligence Engineer takes ownership of the technical execution of the client's data ecosystem — ensuring data systems are well-structured, robust, and built to scale with the business. The role prioritises code quality, maintainability, and system design, owning the technical delivery lifecycle from raw data ingestion through to production-ready datasets and dashboards. Key Responsibilities Translate defined business requirements into scalable data models and high-performance pipelines. Own the technical delivery lifecycle, from ingesting raw data to producing production-ready datasets and polished dashboards. Take ownership of the technical structure of the data ecosystem, ensuring all solutions are maintainable and optimised for long-term growth. Use Python to build and manage robust integrations with third-party APIs and internal data sources. Implement rigorous testing frameworks and proactive alerting to ensure the integrity and availability of the reporting layer. Design and implement professional-grade dashboards that are intuitive, polished, and follow high-end design principles. Participate in collaborative peer code reviews and uphold engineering standards across the data stack. Contribute to architectural decisions and help evolve data engineering practices. Deploy data workflows via Git and CI/CD pipelines. Maintain documentation of data models, pipelines, and reporting architecture. What We're Looking For Essential Skills Advanced SQL proficiency — strong ability to write optimised queries, manage complex logic, and structure data warehouse environments. Python for data engineering — solid experience using Python for API-based data extraction, automated scripting, and data manipulation. Modern data stack — hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses and transformation tools (e.g. BigQuery, AWS, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt). Data modelling — strong experience designing scalable data models to unify multiple data sources into a consistent, maintainable reporting layer. Version control & CI/CD — proficiency with Git and experience deploying data workflows via CI/CD pipelines. Engineering rigour — strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and participation in collaborative peer reviews. Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Essential Experience Mid-level professional with a solid foundation in data engineering and ready to take technical ownership of complex projects. Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable, production-grade data solutions. Proven experience designing and operating data pipelines and reporting layers in a cloud data warehouse. Track record of balancing gold-standard architecture with the pragmatism required to deliver at pace. Experience working in a lean, fast-paced environment with a stakeholder-facing BI lead or analytics function. Desirable Skills AI tooling — proficiency in using AI agents and LLMs (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to enhance engineering efficiency. Predictive analytics — experience building basic predictive models or trend forecasts (Scikit-learn, Pandas). Orchestration tools — familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect. UI/UX design eye — a keen interest in the visual hierarchy and aesthetics of data presentation. Desirable Experience Experience in a high-growth, startup, or fast-paced tech environment. Exposure to the automotive, mobility, or fleet industry. Qualifications (Desirable) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
