REMOTE STAFF, INC.
• A processing and reconciliation role for someone who takes pride in getting the detail right and can think through a discrepancy rather than just clearing it. No client-facing responsibilities — output feeds directly to senior staff for review. Responsibilities • • Process day-to-day journal entries with accuracy and consistency • • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, working through variances logically rather than forcing a balance • • Reconcile GST reports against source data and flag discrepancies • • Prepare monthly IAS and quarterly BAS workpapers • • Prepare monthly payroll tax workpapers • • Perform bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and data entry review • • Identify recurring data or process issues within a client's file and raise these with senior staff for follow-up • • Develop a working understanding of each client's business to help spot when something doesn't add up • • Keep senior staff informed of any issues identified during processing — client liaison is not part of this role • What We're Looking For • • Proven experience as an accountant or bookkeeper at intermediate level • • Strong ability to think independently, apply common sense, and exercise sound judgement when something in the numbers doesn't look right • • Genuinely analytical mindset — comfortable digging into a discrepancy until it's understood, not just reconciled to zero • • High attention to detail and a low tolerance for leaving unexplained variances unresolved • • Must have solid experience with Xero Accounting Software • • Must have experience with Australian taxation and compliance obligations • • Must have worked with Australian companies or an Australian accounting/bookkeeping firm • • Comfortable working autonomously and escalating issues clearly and proactively to senior staff, rather than managing them directly with clients • • Strong written English for internal notes, queries to senior staff, and file documentation
