Job Description

– Shape the Future of Learning at EIT The Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) is a growing engineering educational institution. Our head office is in Perth, Western Australia. Are you passionate about education? The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessor is responsible for evaluating student applications for RPL within EIT’s higher education engineering programs. The role requires strong academic and professional engineering expertise to assess prior study, professional practice, and workplace-based learning against the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), program learning outcomes, and Engineers Australia accreditation requirements. The assessor will also be responsible for reviewing and grading student submissions, including internship reports, industry projects, and workshop practical reports, ensuring that assessment is consistent, transparent, and aligned with EIT’s academic quality standards. Key Responsibilities Assess RPL applications by reviewing portfolios of evidence and mapping (where needed) them to program and course learning outcomes. Ensure all RPL decisions comply with TEQSA and AQF standards, as well as Engineers Australia accreditation requirements. Evaluate and grade internship reports, industry project submissions, and workshop practical reports. Provide constructive, detailed feedback to students on assessment tasks. Maintain accurate assessment records and contribute to transparent reporting processes. Participate in moderation and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency and fairness in assessment practices. Liaise with Course Coordinators, Unit Coordinators, and academic leadership regarding borderline cases or complex RPL applications. Contribute to continuous improvement of assessment tools, marking rubrics, and RPL processes. Qualifications \& Experience Master’s degree or higher in Civil and Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline. Professional experience in engineering practice, applied research, or higher education. Strong knowledge of AQF levels, TEQSA standards, and professional body accreditation (Engineers Australia) is (desirable) but training will be provided. Excellent academic writing, critical evaluation, and feedback skills. Experience with online learning and digital assessment platforms (desirable). Desirable Attributes Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or international equivalent. Experience supervising or assessing engineering internships, capstone projects, or professional practice units. Familiarity with general academic frameworks, policies, and online delivery modes.
