FDCServers.NET
About FDC Servers FDC Servers (AS30058\) is a global dedicated server, colocation, and IP transit provider operating our own international backbone across 27\+ points of presence in North America, Europe, APAC, and LATAM, with over 100 Tbps of installed external network capacity. We are expanding our network operations team into APAC to complement our existing US/EU coverage. About The Role We are looking for Tier 2 Network Engineers with hands-on Juniper Junos experience gained at a carrier, ISP, or transit provider, not in an enterprise IT environment. This is a service-provider role. You should already be comfortable in a network where BGP is the daily language: reading full-table routers, checking AS-paths, working with carrier communities, and understanding how transit and peering shape traffic flows. If your background is help desk, corporate LAN, or enterprise campus networking, this position is not a fit. You will handle customer network tickets, routing queries, VLAN and port work, and first-response DDoS mitigation, diagnosing precisely where a problem lives before escalating well-documented backbone issues to our Senior team. Working hours align with APAC business hours to extend our global coverage. This role is remote, based in the APAC region. Key Responsibilities • Handle Tier 2 network support tickets, customer network requests, and routing queries on a live SP network. • Troubleshoot connectivity issues, latency complaints, and packet loss using ping, traceroute, MTR, and public Looking Glasses (Tier 1 carriers, route collectors). • Perform BGP traffic engineering and steering: verifying routes, analyzing AS-paths, checking carrier preferences, applying BGP communities. • Respond to network anomalies and DDoS events with initial mitigation, including RTBH (Remote Triggered Blackhole). • Check interface status, optics, errors, discards, VLAN assignments, LAG status, and port configuration on Juniper platforms. • Add, verify, or assist with VLANs, access/trunk ports, and customer handoffs. • Perform IPv4/IPv6 subnet checks, gateway validation, and route lookups. • Direct remote hands and data center staff through physical troubleshooting (optic swaps, cable checks, port verification) with precise technical instructions. • Document troubleshooting steps, findings, and routing analysis clearly in tickets before escalating well-defined issues to Tier 3 / Senior engineers. Required Experience (Non-Negotiable) • Prior network operations experience at an ISP, carrier, transit provider, or large-scale hosting/data center operator. Enterprise-only backgrounds will not be considered. • Solid hands-on Juniper Junos experience: CLI navigation, routing tables, interface diagnostics (QFX/PTX class hardware). • Strong working knowledge of BGP: prefixes, AS-path, attributes, communities, and the difference between peering and transit in practice. • Proficiency with public Looking Glasses and route collectors to analyze inbound paths and diagnose asymmetric routing. • Good understanding of Layer 2: VLANs, LACP/LAG, STP, storm control, IRB/SVI interfaces. • Solid IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting, and gateway validation. • Discipline to follow strict maintenance window procedures and recognize the blast radius of changes. • Professional written English for ticket documentation and escalation notes. Preferred • JNCIA or JNCIS-SP certification, or working toward JNCIP. • Basic understanding of DDoS mitigation and traffic scrubbing workflows. • Exposure to MPLS, L3VPN, L2VPN, BGP Flowspec, ISIS. • Familiarity with monitoring platforms: LibreNMS, PRTG, Grafana, flow analytics. • Basic Cisco experience (IOS-XE, IOS-XR, NX-OS). Ideal Candidate You are an analytical, detail-oriented engineer who verifies routing tables and looking glasses instead of guessing. You have worked inside a real ISP or carrier NOC, you understand how traffic actually flows in and out of a hosting network, and when you escalate, you escalate with a complete technical brief, not incomplete data. Note to recruiting and staffing agencies: please do not contact us regarding this posting. We work with direct candidates only.
