About The Role We are seeking an experienced PHP/Laravel Developer (Independent Contractor) to build, optimize, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications. In this client-facing contractor role, you will design robust RESTful APIs, manage AWS deployments, optimize database performance, and collaborate directly with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional digital products. Key Responsibilities Core Engineering: Develop, maintain, and optimize PHP applications using Laravel (5.4–11), applying SOLID principles, Service/Repository patterns, and modular architecture. API & System Architecture: Design and implement RESTful APIs with secure authentication (JWT, Sanctum, Passport), authorization (RBAC), webhooks, and third-party integrations (payment gateways, WebSockets). AWS Deployment & Operations: Oversee production deployments and cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring application reliability, automated workflows, and proper secrets management. Client Engagement & Collaboration: Communicate complex technical concepts clearly in client-facing environments, aligning technical deliverables with business goals and collaborating smoothly with frontend teams (React/Next.js). Performance & Security: Optimize applications using Redis, queue workers, and Horizon; write efficient MySQL/PostgreSQL queries; and enforce secure coding practices against top security threats (OWASP). Required Qualifications: Experience: 3 to 7+ years of professional PHP/Laravel development experience in a direct client-facing or consulting setup. Employment Type & Eligibility: Independent Contractor; open strictly to Philippine citizens. Technical Mastery: Deep proficiency in PHP (5–8.x), Laravel (5.4–11), Eloquent ORM, query optimization, and complex database management. AWS & DevOps Skills: Proven hands-on experience deploying, hosting, and managing applications on AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.), along with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and Nginx. Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills with experience interacting directly with external stakeholders and global clients. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Nice to Have: Unit/Feature testing using PHPUnit or Pest (TDD approach). Experience with multi-tenant architectures and microservices. Exposure to alternative cloud platforms (GCP, DigitalOcean).
