Nuve
Nuve is a CPA-led outsourced finance firm serving restoration and trades business owners doing $1M–$5M in revenue. We bring bookkeeping, tax, and advisory into one team, so our clients stop stitching together three providers who never talk to each other. We run on EOS. Every seat has written accountabilities, a small number of measurables, and a clear next step. You will know what success looks like from your first week, and you will know where you stand without having to ask. THE ROLE You own tax at Nuve. Not a portfolio within it — the function. That means three things. You are the final technical authority: complex returns, arguable positions, and high-risk filings get approved by you. You own the season: capacity planning, the filing calendar, and the decision about what we can take on. And you build the team — this is currently a founder-held seat, and we are hiring it because the firm has outgrown that. You will also be a face of the firm to clients. Our owners want to talk to whoever is actually responsible for their tax position, and increasingly that is you rather than the CEO. This seat reports to the CEO, who currently holds the COO seat, and sits on the leadership team as a division lead. The CEO is a CPA and currently holds the Tax Manager seat. He will hand it over, not hover over it — but he is available for the genuinely hard calls, and you will not be alone on a difficult position. What You're Walking Into We would rather you hear this now than in month two. Our tax team is being rebuilt. Both part-time specialists resigned in September 2026, and we chose to hire a full-time department owner rather than replace two part-timers — because a bench of moonlighters was the actual problem. What is in place: a real workpaper and template foundation, TaxDome as the workflow system, closed books that we produce ourselves, and a CEO who is a CPA and has run these returns. What is not in place is you. You will be the tax department on day one and you will build it from there. This is a build seat. If you want to inherit a mature tax department, this is not it. If you want to shape one — the capacity model, the standards, the hiring — that is exactly what is on offer. The Shape of the Year January through April is intense — filing deadlines in March and April, a review queue that has to keep moving, and daily client contact. The difference in this seat is that the season is won in November: capacity confirmed, the calendar built, the team trained, and the client list triaged before anyone files anything. The rest of the year is planning, extensions, notices, process work, and developing the people below you. What You'll Do Approve complex and high-risk returns. You are the final review and the signature on an arguable position. Own the season capacity plan — what the team can absorb, who does what, and which clients we can take on. Built in November, not January. Own the filing calendar across every client and every entity type. Nothing missed, and nothing discovered late. Build and develop the tax team . You will hire your own Tax Specialists as the department grows — their technical growth becomes your measurable, not a side effect. Set and hold the standards. Review standards, workpaper standards, and what a return looks like before it leaves. Own tax advisory for the client base — planning conversations, quarterly estimates, S-corp compensation, and the year-end positions that actually change what a client pays. Own TaxDome as the tax system of record , including the workflow and how it connects to the bookkeeping side. Handle agency correspondence and the notices that need judgment rather than a form letter. Build the bench. Hiring on the tax side is a live priority, and you will drive it. Who You Are U.S. Enrolled Agent (EA) or U.S. CPA. For this seat the credential is a requirement, not a preference — you are the technical authority and it needs to be backed. A Philippine CPA qualification alone does not meet this. 5+ years preparing U.S. returns , with at least two years reviewing and owning quality for other people's work. Deep on small business entities and their owners — partnerships, S-corps, C-corps, and the 1040 that sits underneath. You have run a season , or a substantial part of one: capacity, calendar, and the calls about what gets taken on. You can hold a position in front of a client and explain it in plain language — including when the answer is no. You develop people deliberately and can name someone you took from adequate to strong, and how. You hold people accountable without flinching. A review queue and a filing calendar do not survive a manager who avoids hard conversations. You are honest about capacity — yours and the team's — early and in writing. You want to build rather than maintain. The processes here are real but unfinished, and improving them is part of the seat, not overhead. You work well fully remote — self-directed, organised, and available for a fixed two-hour daily overlap with the U.S. morning (7:00–9:00 AM CST). The rest of your day is yours to schedule. Nice To Have Experience with construction, restoration, trades, or job-costing businesses. Familiarity with ProConnect, TaxDome, Intuit Tax Advisor, or QuickBooks Online. Multi-state filing experience across several jurisdictions. Experience hiring and onboarding tax staff into a remote team. Experience running proactive planning as a paid service, not just as a by-product of filing. Tools You'll Use ProConnect, TaxDome, QuickBooks Online, Intuit Tax Advisor, TaxGPT, and Zoom. All cloud-based — nothing desktop, nothing on a server. Why Join Nuve You own the function , not a portfolio inside somebody else's. This is a division lead seat. A founder handing over, not holding on. The CEO is a CPA who currently holds this seat and is hiring to give it up. That is a specific and unusual thing. We do the books too. You are reviewing returns built on files we control, so the inputs are known and the bookkeeping-to-tax handoff is an internal problem you can actually fix. Real authority to build — capacity model, standards, hiring, and how the season runs. A written seat description — you will know your accountabilities and your measurables, not just your task list. Direct line to the CEO. Small firm, fast decisions, no layers. Client conversations that matter. Our owners make real decisions on your advice — equipment, compensation, entity structure, timing. A daytime-friendly schedule. We ask for a two-hour morning overlap, not a night shift. 📩 Send your resume to hiring@gonuve.co Subject line: Tax Manager Application
