My Online Staff is looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator with CAD Drafting Skills to support their Australian engineering team in producing accurate, high-quality mechanical and fabrication drawings while assisting with estimating and customer quotations. Produce: General Arrangement (GA) Drawings Fabrication Drawings Assembly Drawings Detailed Component Drawings Design and modify conveyor layouts, chutes, hoppers, platforms, walkways, and other materials handling equipment. Create sheet metal designed parts using Autodesk Inventor. Revise and update drawings throughout the design and manufacturing process. Ensure all drawings comply with Australian Standards, engineering specifications, and client requirements. Maintain drawing registers, revision history, and project documentation. Support design improvements throughout project delivery. Estimating & Costing Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) for fabrication and procurement to support detailed customer quotations. Perform Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from engineering drawings. Estimate project costs including: Raw materials Fabricated components Labour Equipment and machinery Subcontractors Installation Overheads and project allowances Request and compare supplier quotations. Assist in preparing customer proposals and pricing submissions. Maintain estimating spreadsheets and project cost records. Review project variations and assist with cost adjustments. Collaboration Work closely with engineers, project managers, procurement teams, workshop personnel, and clients. Interpret engineering calculations, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements. Deliver accurate drawings and estimates within project deadlines. Qualifications Required Proven experience as a Mechanical Drafter, CAD Designer, Mechanical Design Draftsperson, or similar role. Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (required). Strong experience producing: General Arrangement (GA) Drawings Sheet Metal Designed Parts Fabrication & Assembly Drawings Manufacturing Drawings Experience preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs). Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and manufacturing processes. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Excellent attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Reliable internet connection and ability to work remotely. Preferred Experience supporting Australian engineering or manufacturing companies. Experience within materials handling, recycling, manufacturing, or industrial equipment industries. Knowledge of: Conveyor Systems Structural Steel Fabrication Sheet Metal Fabrication Mechanical Assemblies Welding Symbols and Fabrication Standards Familiarity with Australian Standards relating to mechanical design and fabrication, particularly guarding, safety requirements, and platform design. Experience preparing shop drawings and fabrication documentation. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Design, or a related field.
