Job Summary We are seeking a detail oriented Civil or Structural Engineer with experience supporting New York City construction projects , specializing in scaffolding design, permit documentation, and NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) filings . The ideal candidate will prepare engineering drawings, coordinate permit submissions, and ensure all scaffold and temporary works designs comply with the New York City Building Code (NYCBC) and applicable DOB regulations. This role requires expertise in scaffold engineering, temporary works, construction documentation, and collaboration with project managers, architects, and Registered Design Professionals (PE/RA). Key Responsibilities New York City DOB Permit & Filing Prepare and coordinate permit applications for scaffold installations through DOB NOW . Assist with the preparation of PW1 and other required DOB filing documents. Coordinate with Registered Professional Engineers (PE) and Registered Architects (RA) for plan review, sealing, and permit approvals. Monitor permit application status and respond to DOB objections or comments. Ensure all permit documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule. Code Compliance Ensure designs comply with: New York City Building Code (NYCBC) NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) requirements OSHA scaffold regulations Applicable ANSI standards Stay current with NYC code updates and DOB filing requirements. Project Coordination Coordinate with project managers, architects, contractors, and clients. Participate in design coordination meetings. Track project schedules and filing deadlines. Maintain organized engineering and permit documentation. Documentation Produce engineering calculations and technical reports. Maintain accurate project records. Prepare drawing revisions and as-built documentation. Organize permit packages and supporting documentation. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in structural or civil engineering. At least 2 years supporting New York City construction projects . Experience preparing NYC DOB permit packages for scaffolding or temporary works. Experience with sidewalk sheds, supported scaffolds, suspended scaffolds, or temporary structures.
