Backend Developer

Job Description

• BuiltaMart is looking for an experienced Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain the server-side infrastructure powering our mobile (iOS & Android) and web applications. In this role, you will play a key part in architecting scalable microservices, optimizing database performance, managing third-party integrations (payment gateways, logistics, SMS/Email), and ensuring high availability across our core commerce engines. • API & System Development • Design, build, and maintain secure, high-throughput RESTful or GraphQL APIs consumed by our iOS, Android, and web frontends. • Architect robust backend microservices handling order management, real-time catalog search, pricing engines, user authentication, and loyalty programs. • Database & Performance Engineering • Manage, optimize, and schema-design relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (e.g., Redis, MongoDB) databases. • Optimize database queries, caching strategies, and data pipelines to ensure low-latency response times during peak shopping hours. • Platform Integrations • Integrate third-party systems including payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, PayPal), mapping/geocoding services, SMS/push notification services, and ERP/inventory systems. • Build and manage webhooks and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) for asynchronous processing. • Quality, Security & DevOps • Implement robust unit, integration, and performance testing to ensure system stability and reliability. • Apply security best practices (OWASP) to protect customer data, payment transactions, and personal information (PII). • Collaborate with DevOps/Cloud engineers to deploy, monitor, and scale applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure using Docker and Kubernetes. Qualifications • Experience: At least 3 years of software development experience with a strong focus on backend systems for web and mobile applications. • Tech Stack: Proficiency in at least one modern backend language/framework (e.g., Node.js/TypeScript, Python/Django/FastAPI, Go, Java/Spring Boot, or C /.NET Core). • Database Knowledge: Strong expertise in SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and caching systems (Redis, Memcached). • API Design: Proven track record in designing, documenting (OpenAPI/Swagger), and maintaining RESTful or GraphQL APIs at scale. • Architecture: Solid understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven design, and design patterns. • Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and basic infrastructure management. • What BuiltaMart provides • Work from Home Set-up • Competitive Salary and Allowances • HMO and Life Insurance • 30 Leave Credits • Flexible Work Arrangements
