The Mid-Level Specialist is responsible for building the bridge that allows ServiceNow to pull data for visibility and push updates to SAP for processing. Core Responsibilities Integration Development: Build and maintain outbound integrations using IntegrationHub (SAP Spoke) or scripted REST/SOAP web services to query SAP data in real-time. Data Synchronization: Configure Remote Tables or scheduled data imports to display SAP data within ServiceNow forms without permanently storing large volumes of SAP data locally. Workflow Orchestration: Design complex flows in Flow Designer where a ServiceNow user action (e.g., Approve Purchase) automatically triggers a corresponding transaction or update in SAP. Error Handling & Logging: Develop robust Retry logic and error-trapping scripts to handle SAP downtime or data validation failures, ensuring no System of Action requests are lost. Security Configuration: Work with IT Security to configure MID Servers and authentication profiles (OAuth/Mutual Auth) to secure the communication channel between the ServiceNow cloud and the SAP on-premise/private cloud environment.
