We are expanding our distributed engineering team and seeking a skilled, autonomous Software Engineer based in the Philippines. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain production-grade backend services, core APIs, and asynchronous data ingestion pipelines supporting our automated candidate-matching platform. Role Overview As a Software Engineer, you will build scalable microservices and optimize system throughput across our core matching infrastructure. You will work closely with senior platform architects, writing clean, high-performance code and ensuring seamless data integration across our applicant and employer interfaces. Key Responsibilities Core Systems Development: Design, build, and maintain robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Node.js (TypeScript) or Python (FastAPI/Django) . Database Architecture & Tuning: Manage and optimize data schemas, indexing, and query performance across PostgreSQL , MongoDB , and Redis caching layers. API & Service Integrations: Build and maintain microservices connecting frontend applications to verification engines, AI scoring pipelines, and external enterprise platforms. Reliability & Monitoring: Implement asynchronous background job queues, rate limiting, and observability instrumentation to ensure low latency and continuous uptime. Code Quality & Testing: Write modular unit and integration tests, conduct rigorous pull request reviews, and maintain clean, well-documented code bases. CI/CD & Cloud Workflows: Support continuous deployment pipelines using Docker, Git, and AWS/GCP services . Required Qualifications & Technical Skills Must-Have: Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (minimum 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience in SaaS or product-based tech companies). Backend Proficiency: Strong hands-on proficiency with Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript) or Python , emphasizing object-oriented design and asynchronous programming. Database Fundamentals: Solid grasp of relational modeling and indexing in PostgreSQL , alongside experience working with NoSQL datastores ( MongoDB ). API Engineering: Proven background building, securing (OAuth2, JWT), and documenting high-performance RESTful APIs. Version Control: Absolute comfort using Git and GitHub/GitLab in a collaborative remote workflow. Home Office Setup: Dedicated quiet workspace in the Philippines with high-speed primary internet and a secondary power/internet backup solution. Communication: Fluent verbal and written English communication skills; highly effective in asynchronous remote setups. Nice-to-Have (Bonus): Experience with frontend frameworks such as React.js or Next.js . Familiarity with containerization ( Docker ) and cloud services ( AWS ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda ). Experience integrating vector databases, search engines, or AI API workflows.
