We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with strong accounting knowledge and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. The role will support the accounting needs of a hard-money lending company and several other businesses, with a primary focus on account reconciliation, bank feed management, and maintaining accurate financial records in Zoho. The ideal candidate is someone who understands the “why” behind accounting transactions , can investigate discrepancies, identify issues, and is comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification when something does not make sense. Key Responsibilities Reconcile accounting records in Zoho with the company’s lending platform and other financial records. Perform regular bank and account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Manually upload bank transactions and feeds into Zoho for multiple companies. Review transactions for accuracy, proper classification, and completeness. Analyze unusual or unclear transactions and determine the appropriate accounting treatment. Maintain accurate and up-to-date books and financial records. Identify inconsistencies, missing information, and potential accounting errors. Communicate with the client to clarify transactions, processes, and financial information when needed. Assist with month-end closing and other accounting-related tasks. Maintain organized supporting documentation and ensure accounting records are properly maintained. Perform other accounting and bookkeeping duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices ; solid accounting knowledge beyond basic bookkeeping is required. Hard-money lending or lending industry experience is preferred. Experience with Zoho Books or similar accounting software. Experience with bank reconciliations and manual bank feed uploads. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and decipher complex or unclear transactions. High attention to detail and accuracy. Comfortable working with financial data that may require additional research or clarification. Proactive and willing to ask questions rather than make assumptions . Able to identify when something does not look right and investigate the issue before proceeding. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is not just a “click-and-move-on” bookkeeper . They should be able to understand the accounting behind the transactions, recognize when something doesn't add up, investigate discrepancies, and proactively communicate with the client to obtain the information needed to maintain clean and accurate books.
