Job Description

What you build matters more than what you call yourself. A short pitch for who this is: You're the person already spending time in WordPress threads, dev subreddits, and indie-hacker corners. Not because it's a job. Because you find it interesting. You answer questions because answering questions is how you think. You don't run marketing through scheduling tools and call it a strategy. You read replies. You notice tone. You know which mod will nuke a link and which one will let it through if the comment actually helps. You've sent cold emails that got real responses, and you can explain why those ones worked. ABOUT SGEN SGEN's product is solid. The voice is dialed. Docs are clean. What's missing: a person who's in the room when WordPress users are venting, comparing options, asking the question that SGEN can answer. When somebody posts at 1 AM about a plugin conflict that just nuked a client site, there's no SGEN reply in that thread. When an agency owner asks Hacker News for a serious WordPress alternative, no one from our side shows up. When a sandbox user signs up and goes quiet for two weeks, nothing reaches out. That's the work. Daily presence — in communities, inboxes, and the funnel — done by someone who treats it as a craft, not a queue. WHO FITS You're patient with people and impatient with bad writing. You'd rather post one thoughtful reply than five generic ones. You think "automate the outreach" usually translates to "stop caring about the person on the other end." You can read a thread and feel where the conversation is heading before it gets there. You know community work runs on consistency, not bursts. You're prepared to be in the same places for months before they trust you. HAVE A REAL TAKE ON WORDPRESS Doesn't matter which way. Pro, anti, complicated — all fine. What matters: you've used it enough to talk about it without faking. You can describe what people love about it and where it breaks down. When you bring SGEN into a conversation, it's because the conversation called for it — not because you had a quota. People in those communities can tell the difference between somebody who knows the ecosystem and somebody running a script. STEADY WHEN THINGS GET NOISY Reddit will push back. Hacker News will be skeptical. Somebody will accuse SGEN of being vaporware, or worse. You don't fight it. You don't flood the thread with a defense. You answer once, calmly, with substance. Then you let the comment do its work. You've been around online long enough to know when a remark deserves a reply and when it deserves to drift. THE ACTUAL WORK Communities. Reddit (WP-adjacent and agency-adjacent subs), Hacker News, IndieHackers, dev-focused Discords and Slack groups. Show up where the audience already is. Reply with substance. Build a profile that earns its own credibility — not just SGEN's. Inbox. Email sequences for sandbox users, drip flows for trial accounts that stalled, founder-style outreach to agencies worth a direct ask. Cadence and segmentation are your call. Voice support is there when you want it. Funnel. Watch the signup path, find where it breaks, write the experiment, ship it, report back without the gloss. Tag every signup with first-touch source so the team knows what's actually working. Monthly read-out. Plain English. What moved, what didn't, what you're trying next. No vanity slide decks. WHAT WE’RE CHECKING FOR English that reads native. US/UK readers shouldn't catch a translation feel. SGEN talks to a Western technical audience. Real community track record. Two-plus years of being a regular somewhere — posting, replying, helping. We'll look at your account. Email that converted. Sequences you wrote, what you learned, what you'd change. Open and reply rates if you have them. Working knowledge of WordPress. You don't need to be a developer. You need to be able to talk to its users without sounding like an outsider. A preference for showing up over automating. Tools help eventually. Presence wins first. Self-editing. You re-read before you post. You delete the line that sounds salesy. You don't ship the first draft. PROBABLY IF YOU… You have a Reddit account with karma in places that aren't easy to game. You've written a cold email that got a real reply and you can explain why. You can spot an AI-written marketing email from the first sentence. "Growth hacking" is a phrase you mostly roll your eyes at. You've spent unpaid hours helping people online because the question was interesting. You know which subs tolerate a link and which will incinerate it. WHAT THIS ISN’T It isn't running a content mill. It isn't standing up an automation stack and calling that strategy. It isn't copy-pasting the same post across five channels. It isn't outsourcing presence to scheduling tools. It's a person doing the work, in public, every week. WHY IT MATTERS Communities decide trust slowly, then permanently. If SGEN shows up in the right threads with real answers, over months, that trust compounds into word-of-mouth no ad campaign can buy. If SGEN doesn't show up at all, every later marketing dollar will be working uphill against absence. The right hire here makes SGEN feel present. The wrong hire here doesn't. COMPENSATION $600-$650 USD per month SCHEDULE - 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00AM to 4:00PM Philippine Time. - Minimal overtime during weekdays and weekends will be expected as part of salary SGEN is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
