Laminar Projects
Most companies collect mountains of revenue data and then do almost nothing with it. We're no different, yet. Our product usage data sits in one place. Our prospect and customer data sits in another. Our sales calls sit in a third. None of it talks to each other, and none of it tells our team what to do next. Every day there are accounts we should be calling, customers drifting toward churn and free users ready to upgrade, and we can't see any of it. We want one person to fix that, and then own it entirely. If you're the kind of person who looks at a disconnected stack and immediately starts sketching how the data should flow, if you'd rather build a workflow than run a report, and if you think most things called "automation" barely deserve the name, keep reading. Read on! (this will be a long write up but we like to give you all the details before you spend your time applying) \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ We are Shape.Construction! We are digitising the largest and most fundamental industry in the world, the industry that literally builds the foundations of the civilisation we all depend on to spare us from a brutal hunter-gatherer life: CONSTRUCTION It is one of the least digitised industries in the world but also the largest – 1 in 9 people globally work in the construction industry and it constitutes 11% of global GDP. Improving construction strengthens the very foundation of human civilisation. (Watch our short film about it). We got our start as a high-end construction project management consultancy. As a consultancy, we are focused on genuinely upgrading the way construction projects are delivered. We then take the deep understanding of the projects we work on to develop construction management software products that anyone can use to deliver their projects better. We are building a full suite of products one module at a time – kind of like office 365 but for construction management - Check out Shape, our construction management tech The core of all this is our true secret sauce; people. We only recruit the very best both in capability and personality. We are deeply focused on designing a new type of organisation that is optimised for the flourishing of the people in the team first and foremost. People that join us develop fast as a whole person in ways they never imagined. This approach has allowed us to grow from just 2 people in 2017 to over 120 today (including consultancy) and we are still very much at the beginning! Joining us isn't just some "job", it is a transformative educational experience. We challenge you to be your best self in all aspects of life. 4 core values for a good life We believe a life of human flourishing is all about meaningful relationships with others and challenging yourself to create a positive impact. So our values reflect the 4 levels of relationships that each of us has: Grow yourself – Your relationship with yourself Care about people – Your relationship with others around you Execute to greatness – Your relationship with your team Build civilisation – Your relationship with humanity and the world This goes much deeper but for the sake of brevity, we will keep the summary version! We enshrined our values in our vision We exist so that everyone in our team can thrive in a high-impact community that: Connects us with meaningful relationships Inspires us to develop ourselves to become better humans Empowers us to pursue our own learning adventures We believe that, by first doing this, we can achieve the highest levels of value for the world. And enable the achievement of our vision through our dual missions: To fully digitise the construction of human civilisation To create a new type of organisation that enables human flourishing while delivering a huge positive impact on society \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ The Role Purpose of the role Shape is a construction SaaS company. Our revenue team collects data everywhere: product usage in Metabase, prospect and customer data in HubSpot, sales calls, website activity, LinkedIn and enrichment tools like Lusha and Sales Navigator. What we don't have is one person who connects it all and makes it work automatically. That's this job. To be clear about the emphasis: connecting the data is the starting point, not the job. The job is building, maintaining and scaling automation. Every stage of our revenue engine, from finding the right account to retaining the customer, should run on automated workflows that use that data to feed the team and tell them what to do next. You'll build our go-to-market engine from the ground up and own it. You're the technical backbone for a revenue team of :20 across marketing, sales and customer success. Team You'll sit in Shape's marketing team and your leader will be the Head of Marketing. You'll work daily with sales and customer success, who are effectively your internal customers. The team already has content, design, web, video and product marketing covered. What's missing is the data and automation layer underneath all of it. Right now the Head of Marketing is building that himself in n8n, which doesn't scale. You're coming in to take it over, finish it properly and push it much further than we could on our own. This is a role with unusual latitude. Some of the engine is built and some of the tools are already implemented, but you'll have the freedom to define the tech stack to fill the gaps, challenge our thinking and decide how this gets done. Your top six objectives Bridge our product and CRM data into a single, live source of truth that keeps moving on its own. Automate every stage of the revenue lifecycle, from finding the right account through to retaining the customer. Build the signal and notification layer so the right person gets the right information at the right time. Build the dashboards that marketing, sales and customer success all run off, so everyone works from the same numbers. Own the tech stack across the whole engine, spotting the gaps and recommending what to add or drop. Take full ownership of the engine so it runs, and keeps running, without the Head of Marketing building workflows. Your Top Six Responsibilities You'll build and run an end-to-end automated engine that covers the full customer lifecycle. It looks like this: Find. Use data to identify the right accounts and the right people in them, automatically, using signals like jobs and permits won, job moves and website intent, enriched with the right contact data. Feed. Turn that into prioritised, contextual lists the SDRs start every morning with: who to contact, why, and what signal fired. Monitor. As SDRs work leads into cadences and demos, and as CSMs run live client meetings, build automations that monitor the calls and activity and enrich the CRM with what's learned. Accelerate. Use that enriched data to generate automated recommendations that help the sales team progress and close deals faster. Retain. Use product-usage, support and engagement data to monitor adoption, flag churn risk early and trigger upsell prompts when free users are ready. Feed CSMs a prioritised daily view of which accounts need attention and why, backed by a dedicated CS dashboard of account health, usage and engagement across the portfolio. Underpin all of it. Bridge Metabase and HubSpot into a single, live source of truth, then keep data flowing automatically between inputs and outputs. This isn't a one-off integration job; the engine only works if the data keeps moving on its own. Build and maintain the automation in n8n with an AI layer (Claude, Gemini) acting on the signals. Build the dashboards (Power BI, HubSpot, Mixpanel) for pipeline, attribution, rep and call performance, and customer health. Get the right information to the right people at the right time, whether that's a notification, a task in HubSpot or a dashboard someone checks each morning. Keep HubSpot clean: data hygiene, lifecycle stages, deduplication and enrichment. Own the tech stack across the whole engine, spot the gaps and recommend what to add or drop. Your Capabilities You are a builder who thinks in systems. You're equally comfortable in a SQL query, an n8n canvas and a conversation with a sales rep about why their pipeline data is wrong. You'd rather automate something once than do it manually twice, and you're relentless about eliminating manual work, starting with your own. Must-Have (The fundamentals) Mastery: Proven experience building end-to-end sales and marketing CRM-centred automation, ideally HubSpot. We care less about integrations you've set up and more about workflows you've built that changed how a team worked day to day. Hands-on with workflow tools (n8n, Make or Zapier; n8n preferred) and comfortable using LLMs and AI agents in production workflows. Strong SQL and data-modelling skills; you can join messy data from multiple systems and make it reliable. Dashboarding experience (Power BI or similar). Deep Claude expertise is non-negotiable: Claude, Claude Cowork, Claude in workflows and agents. Claude sits at the heart of our automation stack and you should be the most advanced Claude user in the company. Communication: Proficient communicator in written and verbal English, able to translate between technical and commercial. You can explain to an SDR why their morning list looks the way it does, and to a leader what the data actually says. Leadership: Strong critical thinking. You'll constantly face "the data says X but the team believes Y" problems, and you need to work out what's actually true before you automate it. You lead yourself proactively in a remote, largely self-directed role where. Impact: A systems mindset: you build things that keep running when you're not looking at them. An AI-first working style, where your own daily process is automated and AI-assisted by default. We're hiring you to eliminate manual work, starting with your own. Nice to Have (If you don't have it now you will after joining) Mastery: Enrichment tooling (Clay, Lusha, Sales Navigator), signal and intent providers (PredictLeads, Trigify or similar), product analytics (Metabase, Mixpanel), and B2B SaaS or sales-led GTM experience. Communication: The ability to teach others, raising the whole team's capability with AI and automation rather than keeping it in your head. Leadership: Experience being the first or only person owning a data or automation function, building it from nothing. Impact: A track record of automation that measurably moved a commercial number, not just saved admin time. Shape isn't the place for you if any of the following is true: You want an easy role without much challenge You like to be the smartest person in the room You don't like continuously receiving honest candid feedback You prefer to do your own thing rather than work with a team You'd rather be handed a detailed spec than work out what needs building \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Frequently Asked Questions Can you tell me more about what the role is like? We are in scale up mode so it will be a full-on role with more things to do than time available. This is why it will be important to prioritise ruthlessly. We don't like to mess about so you will need to be a very high performer who only wants to work with others of your ilk. This role in particular has a very broad remit. You'll be serving marketing, sales and customer success at the same time, and you'll have to decide what gets built first. We are growing rapidly so that means your role will grow rapidly too. You will need to keep up and constantly be looking 1-2 years ahead. What does success look like? Within 3 months: the data landscape is understood, Metabase and HubSpot are on a clear, active path to being bridged, and the first automations are live, with SDRs starting to see the benefit of automated inputs. By month 6: the engine is running end to end. Data connected, the signal layer live, SDRs starting each day with an automated prioritised list, CSMs starting each day with a live dashboard of account health, usage and risk across their portfolio, deal and retention automations working, and the Head of Marketing no longer building workflows himself. We're not expecting a finished engine on day one, we're expecting steady, visible progress toward it, with the harder problems being tackled early rather than left for later. How much of this is already built? Some of it. We have several tools already in place and some automation running in n8n. We've also mapped out the engine we think we need, layer by layer, from ICP and signals through data, orchestration, action and measurement, including the gaps we'd want to fill. You'll inherit that thinking, pressure-test it, and own where it goes from there. Where would I be working? All our roles are 100% remote and home-based. However, if you would like to work in a co-work space to get out of the house we can arrange that. If you are in one of our locations with offices, you can come as often as you like. \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Benefits The Standard Stuff Health Insurance Scheme. Tell us about the most interesting thing you've automated, and what changed as a result We aren't a giant faceless corporation; we really care about the people who want to join our team so all letters will be read thoroughly. After that, we will reach out to you to schedule a casual conversation to help you to know us a bit better and tell us a bit about yourself. After that, we will schedule a couple of technical and personal assessments to understand what your level of capability is based on our own development matrix. This is to ensure that when you join you are starting at the right level of responsibility based on your capability not just based on experience.
