Ghost Agency UI/UX Designer Remote Contract About Ghost Agency We're growing a trusted, distributed team of contractors who work alongside Ghost's senior creative and technical leads. These are not anonymous production seats. We want people who understand the intent behind the work, communicate clearly, make thoughtful recommendations, and deliver at a level our high-profile clients expect. About The Role We're looking for an execution-oriented UI/UX designer with a strong contemporary eye and the ability to extend an established creative direction into a complete, coherent system. You'll work under Ghost's senior creative leadership. A senior designer may set the initial concept, a key screen, the visual language, or the interaction direction. You then study the intent, build the supporting design system, explore smart variations, and extrapolate additional screens and states without diluting the idea. There's a real amount of production design here — but this is not a mechanical layout role. We want fresh judgment on typography, composition, interaction, effects, and current digital behavior, applied with respect for the strategy and art direction already in place. What You'll Do Extend approved visual directions into responsive page systems, application screens, modules, and component libraries. Turn a key comp or limited direction into a complete set of consistent layouts and states. Build and maintain organized Figma files — reusable components, variables, styles, tokens, and documentation. Produce responsive designs for desktop, tablet, and mobile. Explore layout, typography, imagery, motion, interaction, and effects within the approved direction. Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and interaction studies when needed. Apply UX thinking to navigation, hierarchy, content structure, forms, tools, and task flows. Prepare developer-ready files with clear states, behaviors, assets, and specifications. Perform production design, asset preparation, image treatment, presentation cleanup, and design QA. Review implemented work and flag visual or interaction discrepancies. Track current design and technology trends, then apply them selectively rather than cosmetically. What We're Looking For A strong portfolio of polished web, product, or interactive design work. Professional command of Figma — components, variants, auto layout, variables, styles, libraries, and prototyping. Strong typography, composition, spacing, hierarchy, color, and image-selection skills. Ability to recognize and preserve the core idea behind an established design direction. Experience creating responsive systems rather than isolated desktop comps. Practical understanding of UX principles, accessibility, and common web and application behaviors. Ability to organize files and hand work to developers clearly. Openness to direct creative feedback and the ability to revise accurately. Good written and spoken English. Nice to Have Motion-design, interaction-design, or prototyping experience. Adobe Creative Cloud skills, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. Experience with design tokens and production design systems. Familiarity with HTML/CSS and the practical limits of responsive implementation. Experience with 3D, generative tools, real-time graphics, or emerging interface patterns. Agency experience across multiple brands, industries, and visual styles. Who Thrives Here We hire for fit as much as skill. The strongest people on our team are dependable, easy to work with, and trusted to carry work forward on their own. If the following sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you: Dependable. You do what you say you'll do, when you said you'd do it. Estimates, deadlines, and follow-through matter to you. Clear in English. You communicate clearly in written and spoken English — enough to take creative direction accurately, explain your design decisions, and collaborate with U.S.-based creatives and developers. Coachable. You take direction well and stay coachable. Feedback isn't personal to you — you absorb it, apply it accurately, and improve. Independent. You can run with a clear brief and move work forward on your own, and you know when a question or a decision needs to be escalated rather than guessed. Available across time zones. You keep a consistent, agreed-upon overlap with U.S. (Pacific) business hours and flex around project needs. Work hours are flexible and project-based, but responsiveness during agreed windows is essential. Detail-obsessed. You care about the details. "Technically complete" is not the same as finished, and you sweat the last 10%. Trustworthy. You protect confidential client information and follow our security and file-handling requirements without being reminded. How We Work Together This is a fully remote role open to candidates outside the United States. You'll collaborate daily with a U.S.-based team, so a stable internet connection, a reliable working setup, and comfortable overlap with Pacific Time are important. We're flexible on the engagement structure — we work with people as freelance / project-based contractors and, for the right long-term fit, on a monthly salary basis. We're open to both, and we'll figure out the arrangement that works best for you and for the project. Initial assignments may be limited in scope so both sides can evaluate communication, craft, reliability, and working chemistry before expanding the relationship. Specific schedules, time-zone overlap, project duration, tools, and security requirements are defined per engagement. How To Apply If you're interested in the UI/UX Designer role, please send the following: A short note on why this role and Ghost Agency appeal to you. Your CV / résumé. A link to your portfolio (required), with a note on your specific contribution to a few key pieces. Your general availability and the hours you can overlap with U.S. Pacific Time. Whether you're looking for freelance / project-based work, a monthly salary role, or are open to either. We review every application and reply to candidates who look like a strong fit. We appreciate the time you put into applying. Ghost Agency evaluates people on the quality of their thinking, work, communication, and professional conduct. Work Location: Remote
