GIS Specialist Position Summary We are seeking a GIS Specialist to collect, analyze, manage, and visualize geographic and spatial data to support business operations, planning, research, and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience with GIS software, spatial analysis, database management, and map creation. Location: Remote Employment Type: Full Time Key Responsibilities GIS Data Management Collect, compile, validate, and maintain spatial and tabular datasets. Develop and manage GIS databases, geodatabases, and metadata. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across GIS systems. Integrate data from multiple sources, including GPS, satellite imagery, surveys, and public datasets. Spatial Analysis Perform geospatial analysis to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities. Conduct demographic, market, environmental, and location-based analyses. Generate reports and recommendations based on GIS findings. Utilize spatial modeling and statistical analysis techniques. Mapping \& Visualization Create high-quality maps, dashboards, and visual presentations. Develop interactive web maps and GIS applications. Design cartographic products for internal and external stakeholders. Present geographic data in clear and meaningful formats. Technical Support Maintain GIS software, databases, and applications. Troubleshoot GIS-related issues and provide user support. Develop GIS workflows and documentation. Stay current with GIS technologies, tools, and industry trends. Collaboration Work closely with project managers, planners, researchers, engineers, environmental professionals, and business leaders. Support strategic initiatives through geographic analysis and reporting. Train users on GIS tools and best practices as needed. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred for advanced analytical roles. Experience 2–5 years of GIS experience preferred. Experience with spatial analysis and geodatabase management. Experience working with large datasets and data visualization. Technical Skills Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS. Experience with GIS databases and geodatabases. Knowledge of GPS, remote sensing, and spatial data collection methods. Familiarity with SQL and database management. Experience with Python scripting for GIS automation is preferred. Knowledge of web mapping tools and GIS dashboards. Preferred Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
