Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing taxation compliance work, financial statements, and supporting Australian-based managers and directors. This role is focused on technical tax and accounting work rather than direct client management or advisory services.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Australian taxation and public practice accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with the wider team. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance Prepare and review Individual, Company, Trust, Partnership and SMSF Tax Returns (where applicable). Prepare and review FBT Returns, BAS and IAS. Prepare tax reconciliations and supporting working papers. Assist with tax planning calculations and year-end tax estimates. Research taxation matters and prepare technical summaries for review. Ensure compliance work is completed accurately and within internal deadlines. Financial Reporting Prepare annual financial statements for various entity types. Prepare management reports and supporting schedules. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and review supporting documentation. Assist with year-end and month-end accounting processes. Maintain accurate and complete electronic workpapers. Workflow \& Quality Control Review work prepared by junior accountants. Ensure compliance with firm procedures, quality standards and documentation requirements. Identify and escalate technical issues to managers when required. Assist with workflow management to ensure jobs progress efficiently. Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. Team Support \& Mentoring Provide technical guidance and training to junior and intermediate accountants. Assist with onboarding and development of new team members. Share knowledge and best practices across the accounting team. Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives. Systems \& Administration Work within firm systems including Xero, XPM, FYI, BGL and Active Workpapers. Maintain accurate job status updates and workflow notes. Ensure all workpapers and documents are properly filed and organised. Skills \& ExperienceEssential Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline. Minimum 4-5 years' experience in Australian public practice accounting. Strong knowledge of Australian Income Tax, GST, FBT, CGT, Division 7A, Trust Taxation and Small Business Concessions. Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for Australian entities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Desirable Experience working for an Australian accounting firm in an offshore capacity. Knowledge of Xero, XPM, FYI and BGL. Exposure to complex group structures, trusts and investment entities.
