The Role Ask & Embla is looking for a Shopify Developer to manage our Shopify platform and lead the automation of our e-commerce operations. You will collaborate across teams, troubleshoot issues, drive workflow improvements, and build the kind of systems that make everything run better. This is a role for someone with a commitment to excellence in how they build, a genuine interest in AI, and the instinct to automate anything that should not be done manually. What You'll Do Develop and customize Shopify themes and templates using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant web technologies Build and integrate Shopify apps (public and private) to extend the functionality of the Ask & Embla online store Design, build, and implement automated workflows using Shopify Flow to streamline e-commerce processes including order management, inventory updates, and marketing automation Identify inefficiencies across e-commerce operations and build AI-powered solutions to eliminate manual work Stay current on AI and automation trends in e-commerce and bring a clear point of view on what we should be adopting Implement and maintain responsive and mobile-first designs to ensure optimal viewing experience across all devices Collaborate with internal teams to understand project requirements and translate them into functional and visually appealing website features and automated workflows Optimize website performance for speed, scalability, and SEO best practices Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, bugs, and errors in a timely manner Build and maintain integrations between Shopify and third-party platforms, with a focus on reducing manual touchpoints Conduct thorough testing of website changes and automated workflows to ensure quality and functionality Document all automation workflows and development processes clearly so the team can understand, use, and maintain what you build Who You Are Proven experience as a Shopify Developer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing Shopify development work and Shopify Flow implementations Solid understanding of Shopify's architecture, Liquid templating language, and theme development best practices Experience with Shopify APIs (Storefront, Admin); developing custom Shopify apps is preferred but not required Strong understanding of Shopify Flow with hands-on experience building and managing automated workflows AI-native in how you work, you actively use AI tools to improve your output and embed automation into the systems you build Experience with automation within Lark Suite is a strong plus Understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development Knowledge of website performance optimization techniques Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to spot opportunities for automation Excellent communication and collaboration skills Experience with e-commerce analytics tools such as Google Analytics is preferred but not required Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously Sharp eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work Genuine resonance with Ask & Embla, with a clear understanding of our aesthetic, values, and the community we serve About Ask & Embla and Ambi Who We Are: Ask & Embla is a rapidly growing jewelry brand born from alternative subcultures shaped by punk, goth, and music movements.
