Job Overview We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented YouTube Video Essay Editor to join our team. In this role, you will transform scripts, voiceovers, and research into engaging, high-retention video essays. The ideal candidate has a strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition, and knows how to keep viewers engaged through compelling edits. Responsibilities Edit long-form YouTube video essays (typically 10–30+ minutes). Synchronize voiceovers with visuals, graphics, B-roll, and animations. Source and organize royalty-free footage, images, sound effects, and music. Create engaging motion graphics, text animations, and transitions. Maintain pacing and visual variety to maximize audience retention. Follow brand guidelines and ensure consistency across all videos. Collaborate with writers, researchers, and content managers to deliver high-quality content. Revise videos based on feedback and meet project deadlines. Ensure videos are optimized for YouTube standards and best practices. Requirements Proven experience editing YouTube videos, preferably video essays, documentaries, or educational content. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or similar editing software. Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and audience retention. Experience sourcing stock footage and visual assets. Basic knowledge of motion graphics and audio editing. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Excellent time management and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience editing history, finance, technology, business, science, or documentary-style content. Familiarity with YouTube analytics and viewer retention strategies. Basic graphic design skills (Photoshop or Illustrator). Experience creating custom animations or infographics.
