About The Role • This is a fully remote role where you will support Australian clients with their tax compliance and bookkeeping requirements. You will work closely with our Australian-based team to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality outputs. This role is suited to an early career accountant who is developing technical capability, gaining exposure to Australian tax legislation, and building confidence in client service. Key Responsibilities • Compliance & Taxation • Prepare and lodge Australian income tax returns (individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships) in accordance with Australian tax legislation. • Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) / GST, FBT returns and other statutory lodgments • Conduct basic tax research and apply relevant ATO rulings and guidance • Business Services & Accounting • Assist with preparation of financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing where required • Maintain financial records in Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks • Assist with year-end accounts and working papers • Support compliance deadlines and reporting requirements • Identify process improvements and efficiencies • Client Support & Communication • Liaise with clients to obtain required information and clarify queries. • Maintain accurate client records and follow up on outstanding items. • Provide professional and friendly service while developing strong client relationships. • Teamwork & Professional Development • Work closely with senior accountants and managers to deliver high quality outcomes. • Participate in internal training, technical updates, and professional development programs. • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in tax and/or bookkeeping • Strong experience with Australian tax compliance (preferred) • Experience preparing GST/BAS returns • Proficient in cloud accounting software (Xero preferred) • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills • Excellent English communication skills • Ability to work independently in a remote environment • CPA/CA qualification (or working towards) is highly regarded • Why Join PeakLedger • 100% work-from-home flexibility • Exposure to Australian clients and systems • High-growth, international firm • Supportive and collaborative team • Long-term career development opportunities
