Commercial & Contracts Specialist (with Supply Chain Support) Australian client | Full time | Permanent | Work from home About the client Our client is an Australian business that has operated for over 12 years across the mining, resources, oil and gas, defence and hospitality sectors. They provide remote catering, camp management and mobile camp services, effectively running remote hotels for the resources sector. The business is run from a lean head office on the Gold Coast and supported by a dispersed field workforce of chefs, camp managers and cleaners. The business is scaling sustainably while optimising spend, staying lean at leadership level, and using AI and systems to automate back office operations. This position is the first seat in a dedicated offshore commercial and supply chain capability, and it sits at the heart of that strategy. About The Role You will sit between the CEO, General Manager, CFO and Projects team as the dedicated owner of contracts preparation and administration, commercial analysis and reporting, and supply chain pricing, tender support and market research. The role is commercial and contracts led with a strong analytical supply chain component. You will prepare the documents, analysis and recommendations that allow the leadership team to make better commercial and supply chain decisions. You will not initially own final supplier negotiations or approvals, though the role can become more client and supplier facing over time as you build capability and trust. Contracts and commercial administration Draft, review and prepare contracts, contract variations, proposals, SOWs and service agreements Maintain contract registers, renewal dates and commercial records across systems such as Asana and HubSpot Keep every contract document correctly version controlled, approved by the right stakeholders and filed for easy retrieval Support the CEO, GM, CFO and Projects team with document formatting and collation, coordination of signatures and approvals, and tracking of key commercial obligations and milestones Commercial analysis and reporting Conduct margin, pricing and cost analysis to support leadership decision making Complete commercial evaluations for new bids, tenders and supplier proposals Build cost comparison models and clear recommendations Identify commercial and supplier risks and flag key issues to management early Develop and maintain commercial reports and dashboards covering spend analysis, savings tracking and supplier performance indicators Present concise written and verbal recommendations to the Australian leadership team Supply chain support and market research Support pricing reviews across key categories and suppliers Set up and support tenders and RFQs Benchmark suppliers and prepare commercial comparisons Research new supplier options, alternative products and services, market rates and commercial benchmarks Monitor contract renewals, re-tender opportunities and cost saving opportunities Provide analytical support for supply chain strategy discussions and what if scenarios such as price increases, lead time changes and supplier changes Day to day logistics, warehousing and detailed inventory operations remain with the client's existing teams and suppliers. This role focuses on the commercial, analytical and administrative side of supply chain. Stakeholder support and communication Act as the primary offshore commercial and contracts support for the CEO, GM, CFO and Projects team Present analysis and recommendations in clear, professional English, written and verbal Liaise with suppliers and clients where appropriate, depending on experience and maturity Build strong working relationships across the Australian and offshore teams Reporting line Reports to the CEO, with day to day interaction with the General Manager, CFO and Projects team. No direct reports initially. This is a senior individual contributor role that may evolve as the business grows and builds additional offshore capability. What success looks like in 6 to 12 months The business has a single, reliable owner for contracts and commercial documentation Contract registers, renewals and key dates are clearly tracked and proactively managed Leadership has better visibility of pricing, margins and supplier performance Tangible cost savings or avoided costs are being realised through better analysis and tender support Supply chain decisions are made with stronger commercial insight and market research The CEO and leadership team can confidently delegate more commercial and contract work and focus on strategy and growth Why this role is worth your time This is a long term, high trust seat with direct access to an Australian leadership team. You will own a portfolio of contracts and commercial work rather than process tasks, and you will help shape how the business builds its offshore commercial capability. Requirements Commercial and contracts 3 to 7 or more years in commercial, contracts administration, procurement or supply chain roles Demonstrated experience drafting and managing contracts, variations and renewals Commercial analysis experience across pricing, margins and cost optimisation Experience supporting tenders and RFQs Strong understanding of contract fundamentals including terms, risks, obligations and renewals Supply chain and procurement Supply chain or procurement support experience in at least one of mining and resources, construction or industrial services, oil and gas, or remote services, facilities and hospitality for large operations Exposure to pricing and cost comparison, supplier research and evaluation, and tender or RFQ processes Bonus: exposure to remote sites or camp style operations Systems and analytics Strong Excel skills including lookups, pivot tables and basic modelling and comparison Experience with at least one of an ERP or finance and operations platform (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Pronto, Cin7, Xero or similar), a project or workflow tool such as Asana, or a CRM and commercial tool such as HubSpot Ability to produce clear, structured reports and presentations based on data Soft skills and attributes Excellent professional English, written and spoken High level of commercial maturity and attention to detail Strong analytical and problem solving capability Comfortable working with senior stakeholders including a CEO, GM and CFO Proactive and organised, able to own a portfolio of contracts and commercial tasks High integrity and discretion with commercial and contractual information Attitude first mindset: positive, collaborative and eager to learn the business and build a long term relationship
