About Us Tarraula is a high-end interior design studio based in El Salvador. We design and execute luxury residential and real-estate projects end-to-end (from 3D design to turnkey delivery). We want to become AI-first: use AI to speed up our internal processes, improve quality, and scale without adding headcount. We're looking for a hands-on AI engineer who loves shipping small useful tools every week, not writing research papers. Role summary You will be responsible for improving and extending our internal web app and workflows using AI (LLMs, automation, integrations). This is a full-time, 3-month remote contract with the goal of turning into a longer-term collaboration if we both see strong results. What you'll do (key responsibilities) - Map our current internal processes (design, documentation, purchasing, client communication) and propose automation opportunities. - Design and build AI-powered features into our internal app, for example: generate client emails, reports, and documentation from project data; produce and maintain structured shopping lists / BOQs from design specs; build internal assistants to answer questions using our documents and past projects (RAG, etc.). - Integrate with third-party tools we already use (for example: HubSpot, cloud storage, task management tools). - Set up basic monitoring/metrics for your automations (time saved, usage, errors). - Work directly with the founders and design team, iterate fast, and ship improvements weekly. Must-have requirements - 2\+ years of experience in software engineering (backend or full-stack). - Practical experience building with LLMs (OpenAI or similar): prompt design, calling APIs, handling context, etc. - Strong in at least one language commonly used for this work (Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or similar). - Experience building small internal tools or automation scripts (APIs, webhooks, Zapier/Make, etc.). - Comfortable working remote, async, in English, and owning projects end-to-end. Nice-to-have - Experience with vector databases / RAG. - Experience improving or building internal dashboards / admin tools. - Any exposure to architecture, construction, interior design, or real-estate is a plus (not required). What we offer - Contract: 3-month full-time remote contract (40 h/week). - Compensation: 1,500 USD per month. - Schedule: Flexible, with at least 3-4 hours overlap with Central America (CST) business hours. - Impact: You'll be the first AI specialist in the company, shaping how we use AI across all processes. - Future: Strong performers will have the opportunity to extend the contract or convert to a long-term role. How we'll work together (first 90 days) - Week 1-2: understand our workflows, systems, and current internal app; propose a 90-day roadmap with clear deliverables. - Week 3-8: build and ship 2-3 concrete automations/features that our team uses daily. - Week 9-12: stabilize, document, and measure time saved / impact.
