Job Description

Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain full stack features across frontend and backend systems Build new modules and enhance existing functionality within a large-scale SaaS platform Develop user-facing functionality using React and TypeScript Build and maintain backend services using PHP and Symfony Design, build, and maintain APIs and GraphQL integrations Collaborate closely with Product teams throughout the design, planning, and delivery process Participate in sprint planning, estimation, technical discussions, and solution design Help modernise legacy modules and align them with current engineering standards and best practices Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices Take ownership of features throughout the full development lifecycle Work closely with architects and senior engineers to improve platform capabilities and developer experience Required Skills & Experience Minimum 5 years of professional full stack software development experience Minimum 3 years of recent commercial experience with PHP Strong experience with TypeScript Experience working with Symfony, Laravel, or another modern PHP framework Proven experience building and maintaining full stack web applications across frontend and backend systems Proven experience delivering features end-to-end, from user interface through backend services and database integration Experience designing, building, and consuming APIs Experience integrating frontend applications with backend services Strong understanding of software architecture, application design, and engineering best practices Experience working on large-scale, complex applications, ERP systems, or SaaS platforms Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables Experience collaborating directly with Product Managers, Designers, and technical stakeholders Proven ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions Communication Requirements Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Near-native or bilingual-level English proficiency strongly preferred Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Comfortable participating in frequent video calls, sprint planning sessions, technical discussions, and collaborative problem-solving Able to challenge requirements constructively, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute ideas during product and technical discussions Confident communicating within a highly collaborative and communication-driven engineering environment Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across distributed teams Nice to Have Experience with Symfony Experience with GraphQL Experience with AWS Experience with Docker and containerised development environments Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Experience working within EdTech Experience within Finance, Banking, ERP, Student Information Systems, or other complex data-driven platforms Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar What We're Looking For Successful candidates will typically demonstrate: Minimum 5 years of professional full stack development experience Strong commercial experience with both React and PHP Experience owning features end-to-end across the full stack Strong product ownership and accountability Experience working on large, mature SaaS, ERP, or product-based platforms Experience working on long-term product development rather than short-term project work Comfort working within large, mature codebases and complex data models A collaborative and open-minded approach to software development The ability to work closely with Product teams and contribute to technical decision-making Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage in technical and business discussions Interest in building technology that delivers meaningful impact within the education sector Why Join This Opportunity?
