We’re expanding nationally. We’re investing in AI and automation. And we’re building more of our technology capability in-house. As we scale, we’re looking for an AI Engineer who can turn manual, fragmented processes into reliable, measurable and scalable systems. The Role Reporting to the Head of AI & Growth Systems , the AI Engineer will design, build and maintain the automations, integrations, AI solutions and internal platforms that help Locale Property Group operate faster, simpler and more effectively. This is a group-wide engineering role , rather than one embedded within a single department. You’ll work across high-priority initiatives spanning Sales, Operations, Finance, Wealth, Group Accounts and broader Group platforms, depending on where technology can create the greatest impact. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys understanding how a business works, identifying where technology can improve it, and then actually building the solution. You could be developing an n8n workflow one day, connecting platforms through APIs the next, building an internal dashboard, improving our data flows or testing an AI agent against a real business use case. What You’ll Be Doing Automation & Workflow Engineering Design, build and maintain workflow automations that replace manual processes and inefficient integrations. Automate approvals, notifications, milestone tracking and data movement across core business processes. Build reliable automations with appropriate monitoring, error handling and recovery. Reduce double handling, manual data entry and re-keying between systems across the Group. Identify opportunities to simplify workflows and improve operational efficiency. Integrations & Data Build and maintain integrations across CRM, work management, accounting, productivity and industry platforms. Work with APIs, webhooks, databases and the Group’s central data layer. Establish reliable data flows with clear source-of-truth rules and safeguards against duplication and silent failures. Improve data quality, matching and deduplication across systems and businesses. Support trusted, timely Group reporting and performance visibility. Internal Platforms & Reporting Contribute to the development of Locale’s internal platforms and applications supporting CRM, operations, data and reporting. Develop internal tools and role-based experiences for teams across the business. Build dashboards and reporting solutions for operational teams and leadership. Help us reduce unnecessary third-party software and subscriptions by developing better company-owned capability where it makes commercial sense. AI Solutions Apply large language models and AI agents to practical business problems including document processing, drafting, classification, summarisation, research and decision support. Design prompts, evaluations and guardrails that make AI outputs more accurate, consistent and safe. Build and test AI-assisted workflows that improve productivity and decision-making. Experiment with emerging AI technologies within our governance framework. Design AI solutions with appropriate human review and approval for consequential actions. Engineering, Security & Governance Build solutions in accordance with Locale’s engineering and technology standards. Ensure systems, tools, accounts, credentials and intellectual property remain company-owned and controlled. Build with scalability in mind so solutions can be reused across Locale Homes, Locale Wealth and Locale Financial . Document systems, automations and integrations so they can be monitored, maintained and handed over. Follow security, privacy and responsible AI requirements, including the appropriate handling of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). About You You’re a practical builder and problem solver who enjoys taking an unclear business problem, understanding what is really happening, and turning it into a working technical solution. You’ll ideally bring: Demonstrated experience building automations, integrations and AI-powered business solutions. Hands-on experience with workflow automation platforms such as n8n (preferred), Make or Zapier. Experience working with APIs, webhooks and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Supabase. Practical experience applying large language models and AI agents to real business problems. Experience with prompt design, testing, evaluation and AI guardrails. JavaScript and/or Python skills for custom logic, integrations and tooling. Strong systems thinking and problem-solving capability. The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with non-technical stakeholders. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. A strong approach to security, privacy, documentation and responsible AI. It Would Be Great If You Also Have Front-end development experience using React, TypeScript or similar technologies. Experience with HubSpot, Monday.com, Xero or comparable platforms and their APIs. Experience with document processing, OCR or data extraction pipelines. Experience developing dashboards, reporting tools or internal business applications. Experience within property, finance or professional services. Familiarity with the Australian Privacy Act and responsible AI practices. What Success Looks Like In this role, success means the technology you build is genuinely being used and making the business better. That includes: Less manual work and fewer repetitive processes. Reliable automations and integrations with fewer errors and failures. Faster and simpler business processes. Better-connected systems and improved data quality. Internal tools and dashboards that teams actually use. Increased visibility of business performance through trusted reporting. Reduced reliance on unnecessary third-party software where we can build better capability internally. Safe, secure and well-governed use of AI across the Group. Why Join Locale Property Group? This isn’t a role where you’ll simply maintain an established technology stack. You’ll have the opportunity to help build what comes next .
