Job Description

THE ROLE This is a senior-level role that blends creative strategy with hands-on production. The Senior Graphic Designer will guide the visual direction for a distributed network while producing high-quality collateral across in-home print, digital, and web channels for 100\+ locations. This role reports directly to the VP of Marketing and functions as an individual contributor with no direct reports. Work requests are submitted through ad hoc email and a ticketing system, so strong self-management, clear prioritization, and the ability to manage an active queue are essential. WHAT "IN-HOME" MEANS HERE In-home design refers to materials families interact with inside a funeral home: service programs, memorial booklets, tribute display boards, casket and urn selection guides, memory tables, keepsake items, wayfinding signage, and chapel displays. These are not standard marketing materials. They are produced under tight timelines, for families in grief, and must meet both brand standards and the emotional tone of the moment. This context shapes every design decision. WHAT YOU WILL OWN Graphic strategy: set and maintain visual standards across a distributed network, balancing brand consistency with the local identity of individual partner locations In-home print collateral: service programs, memorial books, display boards, tribute items, signage, direct mail, and selection guides Digital and web assets: web graphics, landing pages, email templates, digital ad creative, and social media graphics Design system management: build and maintain templates, asset libraries, and brand guidelines that field teams can access and apply consistently Production workflow: receive, triage, and manage work requests from intake through vendor-ready delivery, including pre-press specifications, color profiles, bleeds, and file organization Vendor and field coordination: liaising with print vendors and location staff on production requirements and timelines Quality Assurance: owning quality control on your own output and reviewing materials produced by freelancers or external vendors WHAT YOU BRING Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field, or equivalent demonstrated through portfolio 5 to 8 years of professional graphic design experience, with demonstrated strength in both creative direction and hands-on production A portfolio showing print production depth and digital design range (please include work spanning both channels; portfolios without print samples will not be considered) Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; Figma or equivalent for digital work Experience designing for multi-location, franchise, or distributed brands where brand consistency and local adaptability must coexist Pre-press and production fluency: bleed, color profiles, print specs, and file handoff to commercial printers Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously while making sound creative and production decisions independently Comfort building process and systems, not just executing inside existing ones Emotional maturity and discretion when designing in a subject matter area that intersects directly with family grief PREFERRED Experience in healthcare, hospitality, senior living, or another high-empathy consumer category Familiarity with digital asset management (DAM) platforms or building scalable template systems for distributed teams Experience contributing to a brand refresh or design system build from the ground up WHY THIS ROLE This role offers meaningful ownership and direct impact.
