Position Title: Draftsperson/Estimator (Residential Construction) Schedule Monday – Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm NSW, AU Time or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PH Time Holiday to follow: NSW, AU Holidays Workdays: Mon - Fri Work Set-up: Work From Home Work Details: Full-time Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsperson/Estimator to work remotely with our client’s team in New South Wales, Australia. In this dual role, you will be responsible for producing precise architectural drawings and preparing accurate cost estimations for Australian construction projects. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience utilizing ArchiCAD , a strong grasp of Australian Building Standards , and proficiency in construction estimation software. While the primary focus of this role is residential construction, exposure to commercial projects will be highly regarded. Key Responsibilities Drafting & Design · Prepare, modify, and finalize detailed architectural plans, working drawings, and documentation using ArchiCAD . · Ensure all architectural and structural drawings strictly comply with the National Construction Code (NCC) , Australian Standards (AS), and local council planning regulations. · Collaborate closely with the onshore Australian project managers, engineers, and designers to interpret rough sketches and design concepts into construction-ready blueprints. · Incorporate material specifications, exact dimensions, and installation procedures cleanly into final plans. Cost Estimation & Take-offs · Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs from architectural and structural drawings. · Utilize dedicated estimation software packages to prepare detailed cost proposals, bill of quantities (BOQ), and labor/material breakdowns. · Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process to clarify missing design details with the onshore team, ensuring zero guesswork during bidding. · Monitor material cost updates and construction industry benchmarks within the Australian market to deliver highly competitive and precise quotes. Role Requirements Education & Experience · Experience: 2 to 3 years of professional experience as a Draftsman, Estimator, or a combined role handling Australian residential construction projects. · Software Expertise: Highly proficient in ArchiCAD (mandatory) and standard takeoff/estimation software packages (e.g., Buildxact, Cubit, Bluebeam, or Planswift). · Compliance Knowledge: Practical, working knowledge of Australian Building Standards , construction terminology, and building methodologies. Skills & Competencies · Exceptional quantitative skills and a meticulous eye for identifying plan discrepancies or structural gaps. · Strong English communication skills (both written and verbal) to facilitate clear, daily collaboration with the onshore Australian team. · Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple project timelines simultaneously under tight deadlines. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have) · Experience utilizing Quotefast estimation software would be a bonus. · Background or exposure to light commercial construction estimation and drafting alongside residential portfolios.
