Position Information Job Title: Bookkeeper Department: Finance Reports To: Accountant Location: Remote – Jamaica Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary The Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and maintaining the company's financial transactions, reconciling accounts, processing bill payments and employee timesheets, and ensuring that financial records remain accurate and up to date within QuickBooks Online. This role operates within a fully digital, cloud-based accounting environment and works under the direction of the Accountant, who retains responsibility for statutory filings, tax compliance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, trustworthy, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced outsourcing environment while managing both JMD and USD transactions. Work Schedule Schedule Monday to Friday - Must be able to work in US Time Zone Hours: Standard business hours (aligned with company operational needs) Flexibility: Required based on month-end close, payroll deadlines, and operational demands Work Environment: Fully Remote (Work From Home) Essential Job Functions (Listed in order of importance with approximate % of time. Total equals 100%.) Financial Transaction Processing – Record all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments accurately and on time within QuickBooks Online. Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are properly classified and coded - 30% Account Reconciliation – Perform monthly bank, credit card, and cash reconciliations across all accounts, including foreign currency (USD) accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly - 25% Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable \& Payroll Support – Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing clients, following up on collections, processing vendor payments, collecting and verifying employee timesheets, and preparing payroll inputs for the Accountant - 25% Financial Reporting \& Record Maintenance – Maintain organized, audit-ready digital financial records and supporting documentation. Monitor cash flow, identify variances or unusual activity, and assist the Accountant with preparing monthly management reports, including Profit \& Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and cash flow summaries - 15% Year-End \& Compliance Support – Support the year-end close process by providing accurate financial records and documentation while ensuring compliance with internal financial controls and company standards - 5% Total: 100% Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills \& Experience) Associate Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. AAT, CAT, or progress toward a professional accounting certification is considered an asset. Minimum 2–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within a BPO, professional services, or multi-currency environment. Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks Online is required. Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting best practices. Experience managing both JMD and USD transactions . Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information. Technical Skills Candidates should possess experience using: QuickBooks Online (Required) Microsoft Excel Google Sheets Microsoft Office Suite Cloud-based accounting platforms Digital document management systems Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with IFRS for SMEs . Previous experience working within a BPO or outsourcing environment. Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-currency accounting operations. Knowledge of digital accounting workflows and paperless financial systems. Maintaining reconciled accounts and up-to-date financial records by the end of each month. Processing vendor payments and employee timesheets accurately and within established deadlines. Providing management with clean, reliable, and audit-ready financial records. Supporting the Accountant with timely and accurate financial reporting while maintaining compliance with internal financial controls.
