Job Description

Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) is the largest business-led non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Philippines, established in 1970 to lead the private sector’s efforts in poverty reduction. Founded by 50 business leaders, it encourages companies to fulfill their corporate social responsibility (CSR) by pooling resources and expertise to support sustainable development. Project: Peacebuilding in Conflict-Affected Mindanao Program 2 (PCAM2) Duration: 18 months Location: BARMM (Sultan Kudarat, Cotabato) ROLE SUMMARY The Communications Officer manages project visibility, documentation, and communication products. The role prepares DFAT-compliant branded materials, stories of change, event documentation, and digital content to support milestone reporting and updates to partners. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Visibility and Branding Compliance 1. Ensure all communication materials comply with DFAT Australian Aid branding and visibility guidelines. 2. Prepare event branding materials, including banners, backdrops, certificates, and participant kits. 3. Review photos, videos, and other communication outputs for correct branding prior to release. 4. Coordinate with DFAT Public Affairs for clearance of major materials. Content Development 1. Draft press releases, human-interest stories, feature articles, and social media content. 2. Produce documentation for governance workshops, TESD training cycles, CBO activities, and LGU planning sessions. 3. Create short video highlights and success-story videos featuring project beneficiaries. 4. Prepare write-ups, captions, and digital assets for milestone submissions and DFAT updates. Event Documentation 1. Provide photo and video coverage for project activities. 2. Organize visual documentation files, metadata, and consent forms. 3. Capture stories, quotes, and narrative elements during field activities. 4. Support project visibility during the launch and end-of-project forum. Knowledge and Learning Support 1. Collaborate with the MEL Officer to document lessons learned and case stories. 2. Assist in the preparation of knowledge products, presentations, and learning briefs. 3. Contribute communications inputs to quarterly reports and milestone submissions. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement 1. Coordinate with LGUs, BARMM ministries, CBOs, and camp leaders for documentation needs. 2. Work with the Admin Officer to prepare communication kits and manage event logistics. 3. Engage community groups respectfully while observing conflict-sensitive communication standards. Compliance with DFAT Safeguards 1. Ensure communication practices comply with DFAT policies on: 2. Child Protection 3. Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) 4. Counter-Terrorism Financing 5. Do No Harm and conflict sensitivity 6. Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of all media files and personal information. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION Education Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, development communication, multimedia arts, or related fields. Experience At least 3 years of experience in communications for development, humanitarian, or governance programs Experience producing communication content for donor-funded projects Experience in photography, videography, graphic design, and basic editing Experience working in Mindanao or conflict-affected communities is an advantage Skills Strong writing and storytelling skills Proficient in photo and video documentation Strong understanding of branding and visibility standards Ability to work efficiently in field environments and tight timelines Proficient in MS Office and basic editing tools (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Adobe tools preferred) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and meet tight timelines
