We help create stronger engagement, fewer incidents, and measurable improvements that drive both culture and performance. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a QA Lead to join our talented team. About you We’re looking for an experienced QA Engineer with strong hands-on web automation experience to help us deliver reliable, high-quality enhancements to our SaaS application. This is an automation-focused QA role , with Playwright at the centre of the work. You’ll build, maintain, and improve automated test coverage while working closely with Developers, Product Managers, and other QA professionals to identify issues early and continuously improve product quality. While automation will be your primary focus, you’ll also use your broader QA expertise to support manual, functional, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing when needed. This will be particularly important when investigating issues, validating new functionality, and identifying edge cases that automated tests may not catch. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing Agile environment where quality is a shared responsibility. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting hands-on with automation, thinks critically about how users interact with web applications, and takes a proactive approach to finding and preventing issues. We’re also exploring how AI can improve the QA process at ecoPortal . Experience with AI tools or AI-assisted QA approaches is a plus, but we’re equally interested in someone who is curious, adaptable, and excited to experiment with new ways of making testing more effective. To succeed in this role, you will bring: 3+ years of professional QA experience , with strong hands-on experience in test automation Strong experience testing web applications Practical experience with Playwright Experience building, maintaining, and improving automated web test suites Strong understanding of functional, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing Ability to perform manual testing alongside automation when required Experience testing SaaS applications or other complex web-based products Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases, and testing strategies Good understanding of web applications, user workflows, and browser behaviour Basic to intermediate knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript Experience working within Agile development teams Experience with test management tools such as Xray, Zephyr, Agile Test, Qase , or similar Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail A proactive, hands-on, responsive, and can-do attitude Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders Experience using AI tools or AI-assisted approaches in QA is a plus , along with a willingness to learn and experiment with AI in your QA workflow What we offer 🔀 We have a great work culture and work/life balance, with 37-hour work weeks , office hours of Monday–Friday, 8am–12pm NZT (Sunday–Thursday where you are), and the rest of your hours at your own discretion. This is a full-time permanent position and includes 4 weeks of paid annual leave as part of your contract. 🚠 We have some exciting challenges to solve, and your ability to learn and adapt will be key to your success. You don’t need experience with every QA tool or technology — we’re more interested in strong QA fundamentals, practical Playwright experience, and the ability to contribute effectively to an automation-focused QA team.
