This is a long-term opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable professional who is highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing financial administration within an Australian business environment. Construction industry experience is highly desirable, particularly experience working with Australian suppliers, subcontractors and construction-related invoices. About The Role The Accounts Payable Officer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts payable function, ensuring invoices are accurately processed, coded, approved and paid within required timeframes. Working closely with the Australian team, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will maintain accurate financial records, reconcile supplier accounts and assist with the smooth operation of the company's accounts payable processes. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and maintaining a high level of accuracy while working remotely. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable Process and code supplier and subcontractor invoices accurately and efficiently. Verify invoices against purchase orders, contracts, delivery documentation and approvals where applicable. Ensure invoices are correctly allocated to the appropriate project, cost centre or account. Monitor invoice approvals and follow up outstanding approvals. Prepare supplier payments in accordance with agreed payment terms. Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records. Respond to supplier queries regarding invoices, payments and account balances. Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies. Process credit notes, adjustments and account corrections where required. Supplier & Subcontractor Accounts Maintain accurate supplier and subcontractor account information. Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies. Follow up missing invoices, credits and supporting documentation. Communicate professionally with Australian suppliers and subcontractors. Assist with maintaining appropriate supplier records and documentation. Reconciliations & Financial Administration Complete regular supplier statement reconciliations. Reconcile accounts payable transactions against accounting system records. Identify discrepancies and ensure they are resolved promptly. Assist with month-end accounts payable processes. Maintain organised financial documentation and records. Assist with audit and financial reporting requirements where required. Construction Accounts Payable Experience within the construction industry is highly desirable. The successful candidate may be involved in processing and managing invoices relating to: Construction subcontractors. Building materials and suppliers. Plant and equipment. Civil construction works. Site services. Trade contractors. Professional services. Project-related expenses. An understanding of project-based cost allocation and construction supplier relationships will be highly regarded. Systems & Process Improvement Maintain accurate information within the company's accounting systems. Assist with improving accounts payable processes and workflows. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce processing errors. Maintain appropriate documentation and filing systems. Support the implementation of improved financial administration procedures. Essential Skills & Experience Minimum 2 years Australian Accounts Payable experience . Experience working within an Australian business environment. Strong understanding of accounts payable processes. Experience processing high volumes of invoices accurately. Strong supplier statement reconciliation experience. Experience managing supplier and subcontractor accounts. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or similar platforms . Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an Australian team. Availability to work Australian business hours. Highly Desirable Previous experience within the Australian construction industry . Experience working with Australian construction subcontractors and suppliers. Experience processing construction project invoices and allocating costs to projects. Experience with construction accounting or project-based accounting systems. Experience with Xero . Experience with MYOB . Experience with other accounting and ERP platforms. Experience supporting month-end processes. Experience with Australian GST and BAS-related processes. Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline. Home Office Requirements Reliable high-speed internet connection suitable for remote work. Dedicated home office with a quiet workspace. Reliable computer capable of running accounting and Microsoft Office software. Ability to work independently from home. Ability to communicate effectively with Australian team members through online communication tools. Availability to work Australian business hours. What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will: Process invoices accurately and within required timeframes. Maintain clean and accurate supplier accounts. Ensure supplier statements are regularly reconciled. Resolve invoice discrepancies promptly. Maintain accurate project and cost allocations. Build positive working relationships with Australian suppliers and subcontractors. Support smooth and efficient month-end accounts payable processes. Maintain strong financial administration and documentation standards. Work independently while providing reliable support to the Australian team.
