We’re looking for a highly skilled and independent Senior Electrical / Renewable Energy Engineer to join our client’s renewable energy team. This is a full-time, remote role where you’ll play a key part in delivering utility-scale Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Australia. Your Client: Join a leading renewable energy engineering contractor specializing in utility-scale solar and BESS projects across Australia and the APAC region. You’ll be part of a collaborative team delivering innovative, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions while supporting the country’s transition to net-zero energy. To be successful in this role, you must have experience with the following: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering . Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer with valid PRC license number and ID . 7–10 years of electrical engineering experience . Proven experience in utility-scale Solar Farm or BESS projects , including DC to MV detailed design. Hands-on experience performing power system and protection studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination) using tools like DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or CYME . Experience with cable thermal modelling using CYMCAP and trench/underground reticulation design. Strong communication skills for collaboration with remote teams and international stakeholders. Ability to mentor junior engineers and participate in technical discussions. Some of the activities you will be involved in will include: Electrical Design and Drafting : Lead the drafting and design of electrical systems for utility-scale solar farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. This includes producing detailed electrical drawings such as: single-line diagrams, cable schedules, protection schemes, earthing layouts using software like AutoCAD. Utility Compliance : Ensure all designs meet the requirements of Australian utilities, adhering to standards like AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 4777 , and grid connection guidelines , while coordinating with DNSPs for grid connection studies. Project Estimation and Budgeting : Collaborate with the project team to prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical systems , factoring in equipment specifications , labor, and material costs . Design Review and Optimization : Review and critique electrical designs to maximize cost-efficiency, performance, and compliance with local grid regulations. Propose alternative solutions where applicable. Collaboration with Engineering Teams : Work closely with multidisciplinary teams , including civil and mechanical engineers, to ensure integrated design solutions for solar and BESS installations. Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination : Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors , ensuring equipment and services meet project specifications and budget constraints. Manage relationships with vendors for procurement of electrical components. Documentation and Template Managemen t: Maintain up-to-date design templates , costing sheets, and technical documentation , ensuring efficient project execution and record-keeping. Standards and Safety Compliance : Ensure compliance with Australian electrical safety standards and environmental regulations, providing designs that meet the highest safety and sustainability standards. Process Improvement : Identify and implement process improvements in the drafting and design stages to increase efficiency and accuracy in future projects.
