Position Overview We are looking for a highly autonomous, AWS DevOps Engineer (5-8 years of experience) to take full ownership of our cloud infrastructure for the STS project. As the sole DevOps Engineer on this project, you will operate independently with end-to-end responsibility for the AWS environment. There is no existing DevOps team; you will be expected to make architectural decisions, self-manage priorities, and enforce cloud security and automation best practices without hand-holding. Your primary goals will be to maintain system reliability, optimize container workloads, manage all infrastructure via Terraform, and automate deployments through Bitbucket Pipelines. Technical Stack RequirementsNon-Negotiable (Day One Essential) Candidates must possess hands-on, production-proven experience operating and maintaining the following specific tools and services. Absence of these skills will result in automatic disqualification: Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform (mandatory for all infrastructure management) Container Orchestration: Docker and AWS ECS CI/CD Tooling: Bitbucket Pipelines AWS Compute \& Networking: AWS EC2, AWS VPC, AWS Route 53, and AWS Load Balancers (ALB/NLB) AWS Storage \& Databases: AWS Aurora DB and AWS S3 AWS Security \& Governance: AWS KMS (Key Management Service), AWS Certificate Manager (ACM), and AWS CloudTrail AWS Monitoring \& Continuity: AWS CloudWatch and AWS Backup Negotiable (Nice-to-Have) The following skills are secondary but considered a strong plus: Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) Advanced observability and dashboards using Grafana Familiarity with alternative IaC tools or broader cloud observability platforms Primary Responsibilities Infrastructure \& Orchestration: Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure including ECS, EC2, VPC, Route 53, and Load Balancers. Manage container workloads end-to-end. Infrastructure as Code: Author, maintain, and version-control all infrastructure components strictly using Terraform. CI/CD Automation: Build, optimize, and maintain robust deployment pipelines utilizing Bitbucket Pipelines. Database \& Storage Management: Administer AWS Aurora databases and S3 storage solutions, implementing and testing rigorous backup strategies via AWS Backup. Security \& Compliance: Enforce cloud security best practices by managing encryption keys via KMS, maintaining SSL/TLS certificates via Certificate Manager, and ensuring continuous audit compliance via CloudTrail. Monitoring \& Observability: Monitor system health, performance, and application logs using AWS CloudWatch. Operations \& Optimization: Drive performance optimization, handle incident response, and provide reliable on-call support for the production environment. Team Fit \& Preferred Background Extreme Autonomy: Proven track record of operating as a solo or lead DevOps engineer. You must be comfortable making architectural decisions and driving initiatives independently. Background: Extensive experience working alongside software development and QA teams to support rapid, secure engineering workflows. Reliability: High professional accountability, systematic problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of ownership over production environments. Your expected working window will typically be 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM Manila Time (PST) , with the remaining hours completed flexibly or as required by system operations. Hardware \& Work Environment Setup: Candidates must use a dedicated laptop or desktop setup. Work via mobile phones, tablets, or handheld devices is strictly prohibited. You must have a working camera for team syncs, a stable high-speed internet connection, and a quiet, professional remote workspace.
