Job Title: Scoring Assistant (Computer Science) Commitment: Full-Time (40 hours/week, weekend-inclusive) Work Schedule: Must be comfortable working within EST business hours. Rate: $5/hour Environment: Remote / AI-Integrated Education Overview: Are you a tech enthusiast with a passion for guiding young programmers? Our academic team is looking for a Computer Science Scorer to serve as the final authority on student technical logic and coding proficiency. In this role, you will ensure our AI-driven platform accurately evaluates student mastery of fundamental programming concepts, algorithmic logic, block-based/text-based coding, and general technology concepts for Grades 6–12. We are specifically looking for an expert who understands the unique journey of beginner coders, helping them navigate syntax errors, debug logic, and build confidence in computational thinking. Key Responsibilities Code Grading & Pedagogical Feedback: Score student coding assignments, projects, and theory responses. Provide constructive, encouraging feedback on code structure, syntax, logic, and efficiency, specifically targeting common mistakes made by beginner programmers (e.g., off-by-one errors, variable scoping issues, infinite loops). AI Quality Control: Audit our AI scoring system (Spark) to ensure auto-generated code reviews and theoretical feedback are technically accurate, follow best practices, and remain pedagogically sound for young learners. Curriculum & Logic Advocacy: Review coding prompts, test cases, and grading rubrics to ensure accuracy across multiple introductory languages (e.g., Scratch, Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS), identifying flaws in automated test suites or solution keys. Error Analysis: Spot and correct systematic patterns where beginner coders struggle (e.g., confusing assignment operators \= with equality \=\=, improper indentation, or struggling with nested loops and conditionals). Skills and Qualifications: Analytical Depth: Ability to evaluate student work—from basic middle school block-coding projects and HTML pages to complex high school Python algorithms, object-oriented projects, or logic essays. Technical Proficiency: Typing speed of 60wpm+, familiarity with IDEs/code editors, and the ability to adapt to new educational software and AI audit tools quickly. Soft Skills: An empathetic, encouraging communication style tailored for middle and high school students overcoming coding frustration and debugging anxiety. Subject Expertise Needed: CS Mastery: Deep understanding of foundational computer science principles, including control structures (loops, conditionals), data structures (arrays, lists, dictionaries), functions, algorithms, and basic web development or block-based coding environments. Language Proficiency: Strong familiarity with beginner-friendly languages (specifically Python, Scratch, JavaScript, or HTML/CSS) and the ability to read and debug student code efficiently. Nice to have: Educational Background: A degree or coursework in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, STEM Education, or a related field. Experience: Previous experience in code review, tutoring, teaching (e.g., CS bootcamps, K-12 STEM programs), or professional grading of programming assignments. Why This Role? This is more than just "checking boxes." You will be an essential part of a team that maintains world-class educational standards, blending human intuition with cutting-edge AI technology to inspire and shape the next generation of digital creators and problem solvers. Job Type: Full-time Benefits Work from home Application Question(s): Are you available and willing to work on weekends? Are you comfortable committing to 40 hours a week on this graveyard shift? What is your English proficiency level (CEFR scale)? Please list the programming languages you know and rate your level of proficiency for each. Experience: working with international clients: 2 years (Preferred) Work Location: Remote
