Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Website Operations Lead / Manager to lead the team responsible for maintaining and improving client websites. This role oversees a team of WordPress production specialists responsible for website updates, content publishing, SEO implementation, technical maintenance, site performance, client-requested updates, and support for new website launches. This is a leadership role focused on execution, quality, productivity, queue management, team accountability, and continuous improvement. It is not a broad SEO strategy or creative design role. The ideal candidate combines strong WordPress knowledge, operational leadership, project management, and the ability to lead remote teams while improving quality, efficiency, and scalability. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership - Lead, coach, and develop a unified team of WordPress production specialists. - Establish clear performance expectations and accountability. - Monitor workload, attendance visibility, productivity, and team KPIs. - Recruit, onboard, and train new team members. - Identify team members who need upskilling, coaching, role changes, or replacement. - Foster a culture of quality, ownership, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. Queue \& Escalation Management - Own the daily production queue across website updates, content changes, SEO implementation, technical maintenance, and website build support. - Prioritize urgent, quick-turnaround, long-term, and technically complex work. - Assign and reassign tasks based on skill level, workload, urgency, and complexity. - Follow up on delayed, blocked, or stale tasks. - Serve as the first escalation point for blocked, unclear, urgent, or difficult website work. - Identify whether delays are caused by unclear instructions, missing access, website limitations, technical issues, process gaps, or performance issues. - Escalate only unresolved, high-risk, or leadership-level issues to senior management. Production Management Oversee the team’s execution of: - Publishing and formatting new website content in WordPress. - Updating existing pages with new content. - Adding predefined SEO elements such as title tags, meta descriptions, schema, image alt text, headings, and internal links. - Executing standardized SEO-related optimizations to existing pages. - Resolving technical website issues such as broken links, indexing problems, redirects, crawl errors, canonical issues, and other site health problems. - Optimizing website speed, mobile performance, desktop performance, and Core Web Vitals. - Completing client-requested website updates, maintenance, revisions, and bug fixes. - Supporting the development and launch of new WordPress websites using Divi. Quality Assurance - Develop and maintain quality standards for all website work. - Ensure team members complete required self-QA before submitting work as complete. - Partner with QA to reduce basic errors before work reaches final review. - Track repeat quality issues, missed QA checks, avoidable revisions, and rework. - Ensure completed work is technically correct, visually accurate, mobile responsive, SEO compliant, and consistent with company standards. - Create and improve QA checklists, review processes, and documentation. Operations \& Process Improvement - Manage production capacity across multiple work streams. - Balance priorities among client requests, SEO projects, content updates, technical maintenance, and website builds. - Improve turnaround times and reduce backlog. - Remove bottlenecks and improve handoffs between teams. - Standardize procedures and document repeatable workflows. - Identify opportunities to increase efficiency through automation and AI. - Implement AI-assisted workflows, including OpenCode / agentic AI processes, to improve QA, troubleshooting, documentation, audits, and production speed. Technical Systems \& Infrastructure Coordination - Maintain working knowledge of the tools and systems used by the production team, including WordPress, Divi, HTML/CSS, Google Search Console, Google PageSpeed Insights, Core Web Vitals, Screaming Frog, Cloudflare, WP Engine, MainWP, caching tools, image optimization tools, project management platforms, and AI tools. - Diagnose and coordinate hosting, caching, DNS, Cloudflare, WP Engine, plugin, pagespeed, and site performance issues. - Work with dedicated infrastructure or server support where needed. - Support website migration, technical documentation, and website health monitoring workflows. Qualifications Experience in a digital marketing, web agency, or high-volume website production environment. - Proven experience leading, coordinating, or managing website production, WordPress operations, technical implementation, or distributed remote teams. - Strong knowledge of WordPress administration, with experience using Divi or similar visual page builders. - Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, website troubleshooting, technical SEO implementation, site speed, website QA, and production workflows. - Experience managing multiple concurrent priorities across many websites, including high-volume queues, client updates, technical fixes, and production deadlines. - Strong organizational, project management, communication, coaching, and accountability skills. - Ability to improve execution quality, reduce rework, strengthen QA processes, and build scalable workflows. - Familiarity with tools such as Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Cloudflare, WP Engine, MainWP, Core Web Vitals, and website performance optimization tools. - Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools, OpenCode, agentic AI workflows, automation tools, or a willingness to learn and implement them quickly. - Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify bottlenecks, improve team capability, and create repeatable processes. Success in This Role Success will be measured by the team’s ability to consistently deliver high-quality website work while improving turnaround times, increasing productivity, reducing errors, reducing backlog, and creating scalable processes that support continued business growth. Key success indicators include: - Faster website/content update turnaround time. - Fewer errors, revisions, and avoidable rework. - Reduced stale tasks and backlog. - Better prioritization of urgent vs non-urgent work. - Stronger QA compliance and fewer missed checks. - Clearer team workload and KPI visibility. - Improved team capability through coaching and upskilling. - Better handling of technical escalations. - Practical adoption of AI-assisted workflows. - Less daily technical queue management required from senior leadership.
