Accountant | Public Accounting Practice | Remote from the Philippines If you have spent years inside a public accounting practice preparing tax returns, lodging BAS and IAS, and managing financial statements across a mixed client base — this role is built for the way you already work. This is a dedicated, full-time position with a genuine practice, real client files, and a structured path from simpler to more complex engagements as you demonstrate your competence. THE ROLE You will operate as an in-house accountant supporting a public accounting and bookkeeping practice, working directly through a task queue managed by the principal. Your day-to-day spans tax return preparation, financial statement production, and compliance lodgements across a varied small business client base including companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders. This is a role for someone who takes ownership of their work, tracks their time accurately, and knows when to ask and when to get on with it. What You Will Do ▸Prepare and lodge tax returns for individual and business clients — companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders — using Accountants Office (AO) tax software. ▸Prepare financial statements and management accounts for small business clients, maintaining balance sheet integrity and data accuracy throughout. ▸Complete BAS and IAS lodgements in full compliance with ATO requirements and client-specific deadlines. ▸Post and manage manual journals by importing data from Xero and QuickBooks client files into MYOB. ▸Record all working time against tasks in MPM Practice Manager, with full daily hours accounted for across every assigned job. ▸Work through a progressive task queue assigned by the principal, beginning with simpler client files and advancing to more complex engagements as competency is demonstrated. ▸Communicate questions and escalations through Microsoft Teams using the team group chat when the principal is not immediately available. WHAT YOU BRING ✔ Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MYOB — the firm's primary platform and a firm non-negotiable for this role. ✔ Minimum three to five years of practical accounting experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple client files independently across different entity types. ✔ Hands-on experience using Accountants Office (AO) for tax return preparation and lodgement. ✔ Experience using MPM Practice Manager for time tracking and job management — this is a non-negotiable requirement, not a nice-to-have. ✔ Strong working knowledge of Australian tax compliance, including BAS, IAS, and both individual and business tax return preparation. ✔ The ability to work autonomously, move through a task queue without hand-holding, and escalate appropriately when a situation warrants it.
