About The Role We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Technology team. This is more than a software development role, you'll help design, build, and improve business-critical systems that support day-to-day operations. Working closely with the Director of Technology, you'll collaborate with both technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver practical, scalable solutions. You'll be trusted to take ownership of projects from concept through deployment, contribute to technical architecture, mentor other developers, and continuously improve how software is built and maintained. The role is intended for a senior individual contributor who leads through technical expertise rather than people management. What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and frontend applications. Build new features using Java, Node.js, and TypeScript. Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions by collaborating directly with stakeholders. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices. Participate in software architecture and technical design discussions. Improve application performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Support software deployments and contribute to CI/CD improvements. Balance feature development with bug fixes, technical debt reduction, and operational improvements. Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot production issues and maintain application health. Conduct code reviews and mentor fellow engineers. Help establish and improve engineering standards, development workflows, and best practices. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and takes ownership of delivering high-quality software. Successful candidates will typically have experience: Designing and implementing scalable software solutions. Working across backend and frontend technologies. Collaborating directly with business users to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions. Contributing to software architecture and technical decision-making. Mentoring developers through collaboration and code reviews. Supporting software after deployment, including troubleshooting and continuous improvement. Using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining engineering judgment and code quality. Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional software development experience. Strong experience building and maintaining software applications. Professional experience with Java and TypeScript, or the ability to become proficient quickly. Experience developing scalable, maintainable software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience participating in software design and architecture discussions. Commitment to writing clean, reliable, and maintainable code. Experience using AI-assisted software development tools as part of the development workflow. Preferred Qualifications Experience with one or more of the following technologies is preferred: Java Node.js TypeScript Microsoft SQL Server Odoo ERP Java Swing Bitbucket Pipelines Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools Experience supporting business applications within manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, ERP, or operational environments is beneficial but not required.
