Fully Remote Independent Contractor 40\+ per week from 8:30am - 5:30pm EST. This is a fully remote position ideal for an experienced developer who thrives at the intersection of WordPress development, third-party API integration, and systems architecture. You’ll contribute to internal projects and client deliverables across a diverse portfolio—building custom solutions and ensuring seamless integration across web platforms, CRMs, payment systems, and business tools. Responsibilities Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress sites, themes, and plugins—including custom plugin development from scratch. Architect and implement integrations between WordPress and third-party platforms (CRMs, payment processors, form builders, marketing automation, telephony, accounting systems). Build and maintain API integrations (REST, webhooks, OAuth) connecting disparate systems into unified workflows. Develop custom web applications and automation (e.g., Google Apps Script, serverless functions) to extend client capabilities. Embed and configure payment solutions (Stripe Buy Buttons, Payment Links) and form integrations (Jotform and similar). Diagnose and resolve site, server, and security issues, including compromised installations, plugin conflicts, and performance bottlenecks. Work directly with cross-functional teams and clients to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Optimize site performance, loading times, security posture, and user experience across devices and browsers. Conduct code reviews and mentor junior team members. Participate in project planning and iterative delivery. Requirements Minimum 3 years of professional WordPress development experience, including custom plugin and theme development (not just page-building). Demonstrated experience integrating third-party APIs and services (CRM, payments, automation, etc.) into web platforms. Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, with working knowledge of the WordPress hooks/filters architecture. Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication flows (OAuth, API keys). Familiarity with server-level concepts: cPanel/WHM, DNS, SSL, email authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and basic Linux administration. An online portfolio showcasing relevant WordPress and integration work. Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. Proficiency with Git and version control. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with SEO best practices, web accessibility standards, and performance tools (Lighthouse, Web Vitals). Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment. Nice to Have Experience with CRM platforms (Zoho, HubSpot, or similar) and CRM migration/consolidation projects. Experience with payment platforms (Stripe), form builders (Jotform), marketing automation (Mailchimp), and accounting integrations (QuickBooks). Experience with Google Apps Script and the Google Workspace ecosystem. Familiarity with multi-tenant hosting environments and site security/forensics. Experience with cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, or comparable platforms). Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery.
