About The Role The Payroll Officer is a vital operational role responsible for accurately processing and managing payroll operations within an Australian accounting and bookkeeping context. Working closely with the broader team, this role ensures that our daily payroll schedules run smoothly, accurately, and efficiently, while helping guide our administrative processes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong hands-on experience across multiple payroll systems, specifically Found U, Xero, and MYOB and who can manage high-volume scheduling tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Payroll & Schedule Management ● Process and manage Australian superannuation accurately and on time, meeting all compliance obligations. ● Calculate, manage, and ensure compliance with Australian Payroll Tax regulations, including PAYG reporting. ● Utilize Found U as the primary platform for daily payroll operations, while supporting tasks in Xero and MYOB. ● Oversee and execute Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions. Practice Operations & Administration ● Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure all data entries reflect current legislative Requirements and Fair Work standards. ● Perform routine payroll reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in employee wages, deductions, or superannuation. ● Assist with tracking outstanding administrative tasks, compliance checks, and deadlines. ● Generate routine scheduling and roster utilization reports for management review. Client & Support Worker Communication ● Act as a professional and empathetic point of contact for routine scheduling enquiries. ● Provide excellent customer service when addressing employee queries regarding Compensation , leave, and deductions. ● Confirm shift attendance, log feedback, and escalate grievances immediately. Qualifications ● 3-5 years of practical experience as a Payroll Officer, ideally within an Australian accounting or bookkeeping firm. ● Strong, hands-on expertise in managing Australian superannuation and Payroll Tax. ● High level of proficiency in modern office tools and an aptitude for learning specialized software (e.g., Found U, Xero, and MYOB). ● Excellent written and verbal AU-English communication skills, with a professional and empathetic phone presence. ● Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.
