The Principal Drilling Consultant provides overall technical guidance and supervision for mineral exploration drilling activities. The position is responsible for improving drilling performance, solving complex drilling problems, managing drilling teams, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. Duties and Responsibilities · Provide technical advice for mineral exploration drilling operations. · Plan and recommend suitable drilling methods, equipment, and drilling programs. · Supervise mechanical, full-hydraulic, crawler-mounted, and portable hydraulic drilling rigs. · Solve complex drilling problems such as hole collapse, stuck rods, lost circulation, broken formations, and quicksand layers. · Develop and control drilling mud for unstable and fractured ground conditions. · Monitor drilling progress, core recovery, equipment performance, safety, and project costs. · Lead and supervise drilling supervisors, drillers, mechanics, and field personnel. · Train drilling personnel on proper equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety procedures. · Coordinate with geologists, project managers, contractors, logistics teams, and local workers. · Review drilling plans, daily reports, equipment records, and technical performance. · Conduct equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and minor repairs. · Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and government requirements. · Recommend improvements to drilling procedures, equipment use, manpower, and cost control. · Perform other drilling-related duties assigned by management. Qualifications · At least 25 years of experience in mineral exploration drilling. · Extensive experience in drilling supervision and project management. · Strong knowledge of mechanical and full-hydraulic drilling equipment. · Experience in operating and maintaining full-hydraulic / crawler-mounted drilling equipment. · Experience in complex, fractured, unstable, weathered, and quicksand formations. · Strong knowledge of drilling mud preparation, hole stabilization, and drilling troubleshooting. · Experience in equipment maintenance, hydraulic systems, and fault diagnosis. · Proven ability to lead, train, and manage drilling teams. · Strong knowledge of drilling safety and field risk management. · Experience in remote and overseas mineral exploration projects. · Strong knowledge of international drilling safety standards and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management practices. · Mandarin language proficiency is preferred for technical coordination with the stakeholders.
