Video Editor – News & Digital Media Location: Remote Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract Schedule M-F EST time Job Overview We are looking for a skilled Video Editor with experience creating news-style and digital media videos for social media and online platforms. The ideal candidate can transform breaking news, trending stories, and current events into engaging, professional, fact-based video content optimized for digital audiences. Candidates must have their own professional editing setup and software and be able to work independently from concept to final delivery. Key Responsibilities Edit high-quality news videos for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and websites . Transform written news articles into engaging visual stories. Source, organize, and edit licensed or approved footage, images, graphics, and music. Create intros, lower thirds, captions, transitions, and motion graphics . Add subtitles and optimize videos for mobile viewing. Produce videos efficiently while maintaining editorial quality and factual accuracy . Follow copyright, licensing, and fair-use guidelines. Collaborate with the editorial team to meet publishing deadlines. Stay updated with video editing trends and social media best practices . Maintain organized project files and efficient editing workflows. Required Qualifications At least 2 years of professional video editing experience , preferably in news, journalism, digital publishing, or media. Strong portfolio showcasing news-style, documentary-style, or digital media videos . Excellent storytelling, pacing, and visual editing skills. Strong understanding of visual journalism and editorial standards . Ability to work under tight deadlines, including breaking news situations . Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Required Equipment & Software Applicants must have their own: Capable computer suitable for professional video editing. Reliable high-speed internet connection. Professional video editing software such as: Adobe Premiere Pro DaVinci Resolve Final Cut Pro CapCut Pro (advanced users) Or equivalent professional editing software Plus: Access to royalty-free assets, stock footage, and AI-assisted editing tools. Nice to Have Experience creating TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts . Motion graphics experience using Adobe After Effects or similar software. Experience with AI video generation and enhancement tools . Knowledge of color correction and audio mixing . Basic graphic design skills. Knowledge of SEO and social media video optimization .
