Position Title: Estimator/Draftsperson Schedule Monday – Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm QLD, AU Time or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PH Time Holiday to follow: QLD, AU Holidays Workdays: Mon - Fri Work Set-up: Work From Home or office. Work Details: Full-time Role Overview Our Brisbane South based client is a premier residential builder dedicated to delivering high-quality new homes. They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator/Draftsperson to join their team. The primary focus of this role will be preparing accurate material take-offs, quantities, cost estimates, and Bills of Quantities for residential new home projects. The successful candidate will also provide technical drafting and documentation support, including reviewing and updating plans to ensure accurate estimating and construction outcomes. This role is ideal for someone with strong residential estimating experience in the Australian construction industry who also has a solid understanding of architectural drawings, residential construction methods, and Australian building requirements Key Responsibilities Estimating & Quantity Take-offs – Primary Focus · Prepare accurate material take-offs and quantity measurements from architectural drawings, construction documentation, and project plans · Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for residential new homes · Price standard home designs and custom client modifications · Review plans and specifications to identify materials, quantities, and construction requirements · Identify discrepancies, omissions, and inconsistencies between drawings, specifications, and estimates · Assist in maintaining accurate project budgets and cost information · Review design changes and assess their impact on project costs · Liaise with suppliers and relevant stakeholders to obtain pricing information where required · Help minimize budget variances through accurate and detailed estimating Drafting & Technical Documentation Support · Review and interpret architectural and construction drawings · Assist with updating and amending residential plans based on client requirements, site constraints, and engineering information · Prepare or modify basic architectural and construction documentation as required · Assist with the preparation of working drawings and documentation · Ensure drawings and documentation are accurate and consistent with project requirements · Maintain company drafting, documentation, and file management standards Compliance & Technical Coordination · Apply knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), Queensland Development Code (QDC), and relevant Australian Standards when reviewing plans and project requirements · Identify potential compliance issues that may affect estimating or construction · Assist with documentation required for town planning, council approvals, and building certification · Liaise with certifiers, council officers, town planners, engineers, and other project stakeholders as required · Assist in resolving technical queries and documentation issues Key Skills & Qualifications Required · 2–4 years of experience in residential estimating, quantity take-offs, or construction estimating · Previous experience working on Australian residential construction projects · Strong understanding of residential new home construction · Ability to accurately read and interpret architectural and construction drawings · Strong experience with material take-offs, BOQs, and cost estimating · Excellent attention to detail and accuracy · Strong written and verbal English communication skills · Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines Drafting Experience · Experience with residential drafting or construction documentation · Ability to update, modify, and review architectural plans · Experience with relevant drafting or CAD software · Understanding of architectural and construction documentation standards Software Skills Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: · Databuild · CostX · Microsoft Excel · Other construction estimating software · CAD or drafting software Knowledge & Experience · Knowledge of the Australian residential construction industry · Queensland residential construction experience is highly preferred · Understanding of the NCC, Queensland Development Code, and relevant Australian Standards · Familiarity with local council planning requirements and approval processes · Experience working with builders, suppliers, engineers, certifiers, or other construction stakeholders Personal Attributes · Highly detail-oriented and accurate · Strong analytical and numerical skills · Organized and able to manage competing priorities · Proactive and confident in identifying discrepancies and potential issues · Strong problem-solving abilities · Professional and confident when communicating with Australian stakeholders · Comfortable working independently within an offshore team environment Perks & Benefits: · Company-provided desktop/laptop with back-up internet. · HMO from day one. · 15 Vacation + 5 Sick Leaves. · Annual performance reviews. · Employee loan facilities. · Fun company events with prizes and recognition.
