Project Engineer (Heavy Industrial \& Mechanical Construction)Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Project Engineer to support large-scale water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects . The Project Engineer will act as a key technical and coordination support resource for the on-site Project Manager and Operations team, ensuring smooth execution of complex mechanical, piping, and construction deliverables from pre-construction through project closeout. This role requires deep hands-on construction experience, strong technical engineering knowledge, and the ability to manage documentation, procurement, scheduling, and field coordination remotely. Key Responsibilities Project \& Construction Engineering Support Perform material takeoffs for piping, fittings, valves, supports, and mechanical systems Support construction planning by translating estimates into production targets and work plans Assist in maintaining CPM schedules and 3-week look-ahead schedules Conduct Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and support change order justification Procurement \& Vendor Coordination Request and evaluate at least 3 vendor quotes per material type Ensure accurate comparison of specifications, scope, lead times, and pricing Prepare purchase orders under Project Manager approval Track material delivery schedules and vendor performance RFIs, Submittals \& Technical Documentation Manage RFI and submittal lifecycle from preparation to approval Ensure technical compliance with project specifications and standards Maintain accurate logs of RFIs, submittals, and responses Coordinate with field and client teams for clarification and resolution Construction Coordination \& Field Support Provide technical support to field teams via phone, email, or virtual communication Assist in resolving construction issues related to piping, equipment, and installation methods Track daily production progress and report deviations from plan Support subcontractor coordination and performance tracking Cost, Schedule \& Change Management Assist in pricing and preparing change orders (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors) Track T\&M (Time \& Materials) tickets and ensure proper documentation Support monthly cost reporting and project financial tracking Maintain schedule alignment with baseline CPM requirements Quality Control \& Closeout Develop and maintain QC documentation and Inspection \& Test Plans (ITPs) Maintain redlines and prepare as-built drawings Support project closeout documentation including O\&M manuals and turnover packages Ensure proper documentation control throughout the project lifecycle Client \& Stakeholder Communication Communicate with clients regarding RFIs, submittals, material status, and schedule updates Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, vendors, and internal teams Provide professional written and verbal updates in English Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or related engineering field Minimum 10 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment plant construction Strong experience in process piping and mechanical systems Knowledge of HDPE, stainless steel, PVC/CPVC, and double containment piping systems Experience with valves, pumps, blowers, compressors, and chemical dosing systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) Experience with Microsoft Project and understanding of CPM scheduling Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) Hands-on construction site experience (required even for remote work) Preferred Experience with AutoCAD (reading and markups) Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) Experience using Bluebeam Revu Exposure to construction ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista or similar) Benefits Company Christmas gift Company events Free parking On-site parking Opportunities for promotion Promotion to permanent employee Work Location: In person
